Rerolls are your friends. Start with as many as you can fit in. Of course, it depends on your team. If you have lots of rerolls from skills, they're not as important.
And of course, it's more important to start with at least 11 players![]()

Also if you are using the Handbook rather than the, in my opinion, inferior Living Rule book if you forget to move your turn marker, you lose a re-roll, and if you have no re-rolls you lose your turn. And in the heat of a game you might see some amazing play and want to do it straight away forgetting to move the turn counter.
Aside from that yes, it's always nice to have at least one "just in case."

Buying rerolls at the begining is very important as if you're playing in a league the cost of buying more doubles after the league starts.

My Dwarf team has 3, and sometimes I wish I had 1 more, but often 3 is fine, if I make sure I use them at the right time.

My goblin team has 4. Cos damn it needs them!
Always buy at the start of leagues. That vicious double price rule is a beggar.
I have woodelves who normally have 2 re-rolls, don`t always use em, had a friend who started with an amazon team with 6 re-rolls. Depends on your luck and what you feel happy with.
take em.
