    Apocalypse Orks

I have been slowly collecting Orks since 4th Ed but sadly most of them are still in the black undercoat stage. Im need to get motivated and sort them out!
I would like to end up with an Apocalypse sized army at the end of this.

Im starting with a Kill Krusha Tank build using Steve Tids templates and Tommygun's thread and the original concept sketches for inspiration.
Im using plumbing pipes for the wheels, contact adhesive seems to work well with this, the grey pipe is a very soft plastic and is not easy to file or sand, I will try to avoid that next time
Using 1mm plasticard for just about everything else, leather hole punch for the large rivets, small Fiskars craft punch for the small rivets.
The GW plastic glue does not work that well when glueing the edges together, I will need to reinforce all of the joins as Im getting them cracking open.
At the moment Im trying to work out where to mount the 5 extra guns.
Will be adding extra armour and rivets next.

    Looking very good, Bugbait !
Duno how the GW glue works but have you tried to lightly sand the two areas of contact ? On some brands of plastic you HAVE to do this got get a good bond.
I know you dont want to crack the whole tank back up again but try it on some of your "ofcuts"
As for glue i tend to stick to the big brands, it usually pays.

Going to follow this closely, its got some great potential.

    Thanks student

@SDKFZ, the glue works well when its flat surface to mflat surface, it does melt the plastic which is a good sign for plastic glue, its just not strong enough when you glue edge to edge, I am using old GW sprue inside each join, this seems to be working well.

Added an extra grot turret and the top deck for the main gun.

Ahh, i get it. Well some times you just have to add some plasic behind the meetingpoint. I normally use "ofcuts" for this job.
New grot turret looks like its found a good spot. Like their random placement, very orky

Main gun structure done, still needs lots of detailing and rivets.

Anyone familiar with bugbaits work will be looking forward to this thread with great anticipation. Nice work bugs!! I particularly like the idea of using sprue to reinforce the joints.

    Re: Apocalypse Orks

    Thanks SDKFZ
@Coxy, hope I dont disapoint, I have to start thinking orky and not worry about things being square etc, it hard to be imprecise as Im used to building accurately!

Detail added to gun, I have seen people go overboard with 'orkiness' to the extent that gun barrels are kinked and wheels arnt round, I want my orks to be able to survive pulling the triger so my stuff will hopefully look ramshakle yet functional.

Since the Kill Krusha has a special rule called 'Loader Gubbins" I thought it appropriate to add a 'HIAB' hydraulic arm to load shells from the magazine in the main tank body to the turret, detail still to be added, like a grabba and hydraulic stuff

This is shaping up nicely. Looking forward to seeing a right proper orky wagon.

    Re: Apocalypse Orks

Thanks DS, the grot gunner does ooze attitude!

Turret mostly done. Used the ork with Binos from the Battlewagon in a small turret, onto the loader arm next.

Anyone know why the-waaagh forum hasnt been taking new members/registrations for the last two months?

Loader arm done, just need to find some fine wire as the hydraulic lines, will magnetise this to the turret for easy transport/ knock proof.

Great work, Bugbait Havent you got some rubbertubing, the one you get with motorcycle kits ? I used that on my gorgons hydraulics and they work perfect as they flex with movement.

Loving the look on the loader arm. And the fact that it articulates is even better.

    Re: Apocalypse Orks

@SDKFZ, I dont have any bikes yet, sounds like what Im looking for, thanks for the tip.

@SF, I was going to have the arm moving but in the end I thought gluing it all together would be stronger, sorry.

Started on the tracks, made a metal template, there will be long runs where the pattern will be scribed into the plastic surface, each bend will be made up of individual links.
Iceblock stick is used as a guage to cut sprue for the grippy side.

No worries, sometimes hobby practicality wins.. had a few builds die on the way to games in the past. Just starting on a grabbing claw on the back of my wagon at the mo..
