    Krieg Founding

A few years back I got a hold of a couple of squads of Krieg and a tank. I never thought I would be able to build up an army so I made a diorama with what I had.

    Fluff:
The DK has been tasked with quelling a rebellion on an administrative world. The majority of the population is loyal to the emperor but they have been mislead by their planetary leadership. The corrupt hierarchy is to be replaced and all opposition destroyed. Villainous forces tried to fortify a ransacked government building and had a kill dozer digging trenches when the Korps showed up. The position wasn't fully reinforced yet and most of the men deserted their post when they caught sight of their approaching doom. The kill dozer which is armed with a flamer mostly used for clearing vegetation was knocked out of action when its external fuel tank became compromised. As the vehicle burned the crew attempted to escape, I don't know if the commander tried to make a last stand or was handing his weapon over in surrender but the Krieg trooper wasn't interested in such small details.

    Re: Krieg Founding

I started going out to sea training to be a merchant officer and managed to save up some money considering I always got stuck on vessels that never seemed to go toany ports worth getting off the ship. I started adding to my forces in a big way and improving my painting (I was using testors enamels).

Thanks to Medico for the Las gunshield idea.

I tweaked my chimeras a little and am very happy with the results. I plan to have 3, but I'll have to wait to get some more bits on my next off hitch.

I like the dudes burning in your diorama, very gruesome! The cobblestone bases are nice (don't see too many like that, doing some for one of my own Guard HW teams), they tie the force together, as does the limited colour palette. Pretty well painted and the army looks good when all put together. Liking the Chimera conversion although I would've made the bonnets a bit shorter, but that's just me. The mounted heavy stubbers I like a lot. The Ogryn is a really cool model too. Is he a scratch build or is he from a non-GW company?

Thanks childsoldier! I may need to make the angle of the front plate on the back halftrack a little steeper, it does look a little long. The ogryn is the grunt ape model in Incursion by GrindHouseGames.

    Re: Krieg Founding

Well I've been taking some of my Krieg to sea with me and with the calm seas Ive been able to start knocking out some of my painting back log. I picked up two soviet figures from 1-48 Combat and added Pig Iron militia officers heads. They are a little larger but I think one will make for a special character and the other a krieg sniper. I'll have to get a group pic of all I have finished so far and hope to have some pictures of a few vehicles soon.

I really like where this is going. The models are very well painted and I especially like the vehicle conversions. I look forward to seeing some of those vehicles fully painted up.

Got the Hydra finished and I'm happy with it! I plan to make a second one by the end of the year but I have other things to finish first. I hope to paint one of my half tracks today.

I think there is a ww2 german tank which maybe was your inspiration but marvelously pulled off and looks at home on the chimera chasis.

    Re: Krieg Founding

Many thanks! I've been out on the North Sea exploring for oil the last month. Using up the down time pretty efficiently and have knocked out more of my painting quota than expected. I should have brought more out with me as I will soon be finished before its time to crew off! It is my hope to have everything I currently have completed by the end of the year before I start buying up more pieces. My Krieg will be IG codex compliant. So far I've managed to paint 50 of the 75 troops I brought with me and I still have another 5 weeks at sea to kill. My plan is to finish up my vehicles while home and bring the rest of my unpainted infantry out in my next hitch. This is the collection of infantry units at the start of the year. Most of what I have left to paint is the heavy weapon teams Stormtroopers/grenadiers Vet/engineers and a full squad of riders. Really looking forward to getting this done and on the battle field.

    Re: Krieg Founding

Ok so I'm getting back to this thread. I'm trying to download all my pics from Photobucket and should have most back up this weekend. Anyway, I'm ready for Armies on Parade this weekend! Last year I didn't have a display board because I brought all my painted infantry and they took up most of the space and I thought they were "optional" but everyone else was pretty much geared up for "Display Boards on Parade." I'm prepared this time and I'm not bothering to bring all my infantry. Just my kit bashed vehicles, most of which are new since last year. I call this board "Flames of 40K" I wanted city terrain but the buildings I have aren't GW and I didn't have time or interest to buy up and convert a bunch of GW terrain at this time. Luckily I was able to raid my dad's long forgotten stash of model railroad supplies to put this together. Haven't worked with vegetation before but it was a lot of fun and I'm happy with the results. Looking forward to making some forested table scenery one day.

    Re: Krieg Founding

I think making a duplicate of an earlier kit bash is a lot harder than the first! Luckily I think this one will come out pretty good. Hammer and Nails should be decent corny names for these two. The crew of the Annihilator is out of their hatches scanning the battle field from a distance looking for big targets to take out while the exterminator (sometimes count as punisher) is buttoned up because its busy running the front lines with the troops providing cover support and suppressing the enemy. (I know the AC and LC ranges are the same but it sounds cool). The driver gunner positions got swapped on this one. Still got to add more gear and the hull weapon is magnetized but I think running 3 lascannon in game might be useful. Some guard collectors probably use their vehicles as breaks from infantry but I'd have a whole other platoon if all my guys dismounted their vehicles! Once this is done I'm going t start my stug/ destroyer tank hunter.
