The look great bud. And honestly, the cuff is fine. They'd be wearing a quilted undershirt with that chainmail anyways.

Beautiful mix of colours here, fantastic job, love all the subtle and well blended conversions too.

I got a few more ECW cavalry done. Progress is slow at this time of year as work takes up more time and a lot more energy.

Here is the commander and his bugler:

I am almost finished one of Warlord Games' Pike and Shotte Starter Battalias. All the ECW minis I have posted here come from one of these sets; I only have 5 more Firelocks and 6 more Cavaliers. Yay!

Seconded. I know it's a sucky thing, but it's definately worth drilling out. Or paint a big black dot in the front.

I really like that dried grass you're using on those bases and the bright horse. Overall they do look like quite a rowdy bunch.

Thirded. I also like the mix of vegetation you have used on the base sir

Yes, I thought about drilling out the bugle then got lazy. It's only really noticeable in the photos.

Finished the last 5 firelocks from my first Battalia box:

Last weekend I attended a game played by- probably- the only two other people playing this period within a couple hundred km's. They are re-fighting Edgehill:

Things are not going according to history; Prince Rupert's cavalry have been eliminated on the Royalist right flank and Rupert himself killed. This is a shot from the Parlimentarian side of the table; the big empty space closest to the camera is where the cavalry wings from both sides decimated themselves.

Not going much better on the Royalist left flank either...
    The Royalists charge in ...

... and then they are gone.

Thanks for sharing the pictures! Those flags look amazing. You can never have too many or too big flags on the table!

So did the game go well? You think you could get along with the other guys?

As a matter of fact I am heading over there again in about 15 minutes.

The host likes to use frontages about a third of Warlord's Pike and Shot which means lots of small "units" and lots of flags; it does look great. The scenario is from Partizan's English Civil War Scenarios book. It has very complete OOB's so many regiments are required for an accurate representation on the table top.

Although I'm not interested in that historical period, that game looks fun and amazing. Hope you're able to get along well with those guys and play some games. It's always nice to have regular opponents

We finished the game last night (sadly, I forgot my camera). Despite the initial disaster on the flanks the Royalist centre percivered and eventually overwhelmed the Parlimentarians who had committed their reserves to their left flank.

The host has a blog and will no doubt post his thoughts and his pictures. When he does I will post a link.

... and here it is. A brief account and a few pictures as well. In pictures 1 and 3 you can see the gaping hole that was opening in the centre of the the Parlimentarian line.

I am currently waiting for the paint to cure on the last 3 Cavaliers so I decided to put together a command stand for the Army. Although the figure is Warlord's Oliver Cromwell, I will paint his hair black and use him as Prince Rupert. I also bought two metal command packs and Warlord's generic Commander; he may end up representing Sgt.-Maj.-General HenryTillier.

Colonel Gerard's regiment of Horse is finished! A bit of a milestone: one Pike and Shotte Battalia Painted, one to go. I think I also have a couple more boxes of cavalry as well stashed away some where.
