    Rackham Lions Royal Standard Bearer

So my local game store has given me the new Standard Bearer to paint. I started a few days ago and finished the head and parts of the cloth.

After some additional work today I've almost finished the armor base. Next up, the filigree and some more pictures

    . . . wow!

    Fan-bloody-tastic!

What collour are you basing the armour on? As I strongly believe only several glazes of varius collours on silver metallics do the Rackham minies true justice

Here's an update image. The colors are a bit off, as the model isn't green like it appears in the picture. I'll try and take a better picture tomorrow.

Here's todays pic. For the time being I've finished work on the decorative edging, although I may brighten the highlights a bit once I finished the rest of the model. I wan't to see the overall tone of the model before I go tweaking things. I don't want the armor edges to be the initial focal point!

I've also finished painting the banner pole.

These pics have made me realize just how yellow my two desk lamps are. I'm seriously considering investing in a good artists desklamp. I severely overcorrected the colors in the last pic. This pic is a much better representation of the mini.

It looks great, how are you getting the paint so smooth on the mini, wet blending? Lots of thin coats?

    Looking grand .

Well, I don't know what a Rackham Lion is, but nice paint work. Look forward to seeing the banner.

A Rackham Lion is a model from Rackham (a miniatures game publisher) from the Lion army in the game of Confrontation.

Here's the most recent picture of the mini after some work on the banner. I'm contemplating adding some detail to the banner. This will depend on how the mini looks once the base is complete.

Again, I apologize for the yellow pictures. One of these days I'll take a picture of the mini outside.

Went outside and took some decent pictures finally! Here's the mini in its true colors.

Great work, the colours are a bit on the muted side, I would have liked something a bit more brash in there, to really bring this to life. that's just personal taste though, kudos on the blending .

I might get one of those.... Remove the head, place an eldar one on top... Sure they don't have banners, but they should. Excellent model.

That would be a cool conversion, and easy too. Rackham models are made with a higher percentage of lead then Citadel models so they're pretty soft and easy to manipulate. You would just have to clean up some of his hair on the armor after you clipped off the head.

Hey those are the same paints I use. Good ol' Tamaya Paints. I love the look of that model. Where did you buy him?

I love Tamiya Smoke, I just wish the cap on my only bottle hadn't frozen on me. I nearly broke my hand trying to get it loose. So it's doomed to it's fate as a mini base while I paint.

This particular mini is a Lions Royal Standard Bearer from a game called Confrontation, made by a company called Rackham. They make some truly amazing miniatures.

Here's a link to their store:

I know of a few mail order retailers in the U.S. but since you're in Japan, I don't think they do you much good

this may be a silly question, but how come I can't see any pictures on this forum?

As I have got the knights of alahan, the standard bearer and the musician on order, I was hoping to see what you'd done....ho hum.
