And the first models of the year are done!

My three whirlwinds. As always: Old!

As you can see, I've painted the gunners as Techmarines. I did the same for the turret bloke in my Land Raider, and I've decided to do this for all vehicles that are maintained by the Armoury, so everything except Rhinos and Dreadnoughts (which are maintained by their respective companies) and Drop Pods (which are maintained by the fleet). I even managed to scrounge up some cog-and-skull decals:

I'm painting a crapload of quite old models for WFB, 40K, Blood Bowl, Quest, Necromunda, BFG and more. Cheer me on!
I'm also restoring 20+ old Mk1 Space Marine tanks. Wave your pom-poms!

    Models painted (% finished): 2014: 51 (6.6%); 2015: 106 (13.5%); 2016: 163 (22.6%); 2017: 35 (25.2%)

Re: Itsacon's 15-year catch-up conversion and painting project log thread thingy

To keep the rhythm of alternating between my Dark Angels and the Specialist models, I did the Warhammer Quest Elf:

As with the others, painted in the same colour scheme as the image on the warrior card. I love doing that, removes the whole `hmm, what colour to use for this' conundrum.

And that means all four of the warriors in the basic Quest set are done:

Side note: I recently switched to using a wet palette, and it has seriously sped up my painting, especially for single miniatures like this. The ability to quickly alternate between a few colours without fear of them drying out gives a lot of extra flexibility. I would heartily recommend it.

Ok, while Warseer was away (and stopped me from using the avatar I've been using for 16 years ), I finished some more models:

I did one of my techmarines and four servitors, pictures of which will follow at a later date.

I also painted all of my Warhammer Quest doorways:

    Quick update:

If I'm not mistaken, I've fixed all the broken images in the thread, (except for snapshot pictures I couldn't find again, I deleted those).

I've also finished two more attack bikes, I'll post some pictures asap.

And a teaser for the Warhammer Quest lovers: This will be your year!

Re: Itsacon's 15-year catch-up conversion and painting project log thread thingy

I'm ashamed. I got the mods to resurrect this thread for me, and I'm not even the first person to post in it after Warseer returns.

And that after 2016 was such a good year for me, paint-wise.

Let me make it up by posting some more old stuff (since you guys seem to like that): Battlefleet Gothic!

    I finished a 1750 pt fleet a while back:

    Some details:

Dark Angel Battle Barge "Angel of Retribution"

First, second, fourth and fifth company strike cruisers "Indignatio Angelorum", "Umbra Volatilis", "Luther's Lament" and "Vox Leo":

One of the Hunter Destroyer squadrons:

    My Nova Frigate squadron:

I've also painted up a load of ordnance markers, but I haven't taken painted pictures yet. They are pretty awesome though. I got a load of models from Shapeways (the 3D-print service)

    Some Thunderhawks:

The ones on the left are the shapeways models, the ones on the right are the old Forgeworld Thunderhawks.
I've painted the left ones green to use as normal Thunderhawks, the Forgeworld ones I've painted in Ravenwing colours to use as Thunderhawk Annihilators.

I also got a bunch of torpedo markers, and the awesome-est boarding torpedo markers ever:

    They're cute little Caestus rams!

I still have a bunch of models to go (two more battle barges, 6 more strike cruisers, about a dozen more escorts and about half of the Thunderhawks), but it's a start.

I've also started selling off my Imperial fleet, since I don't need two fleets.

Bonus content: I recently wrote up a Battlefleet Gothic battle report.

    More to follow!

Interesting to see the detail in the Shapeways models. Not sure how they circumvent the copyright, but the resolution just keeps getting better and better on the 3d-printed stuff!

I'm gonna hold you to task on the Warhammer Quest stuff! There's a Tale of Board Game Painters going on, you in or what?

Don't worry, the WHQ stuff is coming (lot of it is done, just need to get the pictures up here).

    Linky to the board-game-thingy?

As promised, some pictures of the other Warhammer Quest stuff I got done last year:

    6 Night Goblin archers

    12 Snotlings

    12 Giant rats

I also rebased the orcs and the fanatic to the resin bases I've been using for the other models:

Cool to see the old school plastic Orcs and Night Goblins again...brings back memories of my horde of these being slaughtered by my bro's high elves.
