    Crimson Fist Mayhem

"I am no hero, no champion of the Legion. I know how to defend and attack, how to stand and not to yield. I have nothing else." Alexis Polux, The Crimson Fist.

I have done something foolish. My gaming club is running a 2 day 40k tournament, Mayhem, on 24th & 25th of May. I don't play 40k - I play WHFB, yet I have agreed to play and have paid my money. So I better paint a 40k army in six weeks then, eh?!

Luckily I have a solid amount of Space Marine models floating around in my bits box (don't we all?) and have an old army from years ago of Crimson Fists that I can add to and refresh, so I'm not starting totally from scratch...

Firstly, the obligatory picture of my hobby cave:

Secondly a rough outline of my 1850 list:

    Pedro Kantor
    5 x Honour Guard
    Librarian
    5 x Sternguard with 3 x Combi-meltas & 2 x meltaguns in Drop Pod
    10 x Sternguard in Rhino
    10 x Tacticals in Rhino
    10 x Tacticals
    Landraider Crusader
    Stalker

I have all the above models but need to paint the big Sternguard unit, Honour Guard & Stalker plus tidy up a lot of the others... Is it possible in ~6 weeks??!!

Thirdly a picture of some completed models:

Theme wise I am doing a just Post Heresy Scouring force led by Alexis Polux (Pedro) all in recently issued Mark VI 'beaky' armour...

    Hope you enjoy my progress...

I like your kantor conversion, looks mean!

And you will go nuts with stern guard, i am looking down the barrel of a third ten man squad in my army. I drop pod everything down and then combat squad stuff, usually run one five man squad as anti inf with combiflamers and a heavy flammer and the other side with meltas and combi meltas. two squads like that in drop pods will make a mess of almost everything.

Really pleased with how they've turned out. You'll see a couple if old models in there - MK IV on far left is from Space Marine armour through the ages set. Also used a RT era MK VI Lieutenant as always loved that figure.

Also been applying squad designations and numbers as per this shot if my Devastator squad:

Was quite fiddly overlaying two transfers but I'm pleased with how uniform I managed to get them.

Lastly I've made a start in my 10 man Sternguard squad and almost finished the Sarge tonight:

I need to add white stripes to his crest and paint in eye lenses and add transfers...

    Comments and criticism welcomed!

They are looking very crisp buddy, well done! It's always nice to see some of the older models mixed in with the new, really adds character to a force.

I've also added a Chapter badge to his left shoulder pad - had to cut it down to make it fit so again I'm happy my transfer-fu is improving!

Also stuck together a Stalker tonight - very fiddly but looks awesome:

I've base coated, 2 Stage highlight, Shaded & Glazed and quite pleased.

Going to finish this off on Monday hopefully...

That means I'd have 9 Sternguard left to go by tournament in 3 weeks - I might just do this!!!

Spent the last week adding transfers to all my squads - boring but necessary!

I've also started on the last squad to be painted 10 x Sternguard:

Also had a practice game last night vs Daemons army led by Fateweaver. Had Belakor, 2 x flying Daemon Princes and a Heldrake, so was a bit rough!!! Felt I claimed moral victory by killing Fateweaver & Belakor though!

    Re: Crimson Fist Mayhem

Was at my clubs tournament this weekend... On pure generalship I came 2nd bottom and narrowly avoided the wooden spoon!!!

My army was one of five nominated for best army which I was really pleased about.

Will try and get some decent shots this week of the whole force to post here.
