    Adeptus Mechanicus CTF 2.00019122014

Later this year i am going to compete in my first 2000 point tournament. For this i'm going to build a 2000 point army of the Adeptus Mechanicus using codex;tau and Codex;necrons for the force. The army list is currently being re-written and modified continuously until i'm satisfied.

Currently however i know will need several models regardless, such as two riptides, a commander and at least 3 battlesuit models. For this I turn to Forgeworld Horus Heresy line.

    Initial model; Magos Dominus with twin linked plasmarifle. Here is the current WIP;

As you can see i've got a fair amount of work left to do even before i add the weapons. However so far it's certainly promising.

Why not use the 30k Mechanicum rules? Apparently they are tourney legal Magos looks great though, wish I could do metallics like that!

Magos is looking great mate, love the flaky galvanized effect you've achieved on his head cowling. Will you be using Knights or Thanatar models as the riptides?

The magos looks great! You've got a great metallic scheme going, which is handy when you're doing a Mechanicum army I guess. =P

    Re: Adeptus Mechanicus CTF 2.00019122014

Thanks guys! The 30k rules aren't legal in my area, as for the riptides it'll be the thanatar as the base is the same size.

Update.... and the mechanicum aren't here.

My gaming table is. So it's now got priority, at least the tiles, to be completed.

Lot of things left to do on this tile...

I really like these tiles; these are floors right? (Obviously not wheelchair friendly) How did you make them?

They are actually GW's plastic table kit they put out a few months ago. Following the hastle of building a lightweight yet detailed board (i got half way into my firs tile before i realised just how impossible it would be for my current enviroment) i looked at buying one. GW's actually solved my issues with this lovely board, supremely well designed and pretty sturdy. Apparently it's predessor (design wise) could take the weight of a person but i have no rush to find that out.

I really like your crispy style of metal painting. Just not a fan of the different bright colours. I see allot of yellow green, blue and reds used together. You might want to tone them done a bit. Have you already played a game on your sector imperialis board? I played on one last week and it was kind of awfull with all the bumps and my topheavy models kept on falling. Just wondering if you have the same experience.

I understand mate, it's just a pre-grimdark mini. My style will often move the mini into the darker tones, i simply start with bright tones to remind myself what i'm painting as metal and what as living/live pipework.

here's a Castellax test mini i put together for my iron warriors. It will give you some idea of how i plan to wash it down and dirty it out.

I'm also moving the entire tone to green instead of blue. There is something about green that offers a much more interesting colour scheme.

As for the board, not yet, but i don't own many top heavy mini's. I imagine my difficulty will be playing my IG tank company in a city.

Now I am starting to see the theme of your army coming through. Good luck with the tournament and your painting war.

    Cheers,

Some of you may remember this model, i pre-ordered him a long while back.

    Now i've started painting him.

Nice work on the Mechanicum! Sorry to hear that your gaming-Group is against you using the 30k rules, as they are really fine.

Your Horus is the best I have ever seen (would a Horus quick tutorial be possible if that is alright, it's that every part of the model seems just right!?)

Thanks mate. I think the issue is the same one FW had, the unknown scares people.

Thanks captain! I'm quite happy with how he's getting on, by far one of my favorite models to date.
