The point I was trying to make was that there is no Page 68 in this thread. Could someone enlighten me?

Gobbo666, don't listen to him. He doesn't want to become your slave, I've tried my mind control over him, it's hopeless...

Yeah, there's specific equipment that the subject requires in order for mind control to work...

    Re: Codex: Xenarch

Hay there... I only just saw this thread and have had only a bit of a skim through right now, but this is what Ive been working on too! Lol.

Its funny cos obviously there are alot of differences but some are very similar! For example from what Ive read your going to have the troopers are T2 and +1cover save... Mine also have T2, +1 cover save (they also all have infiltrate and move through cover).

Basically I wanted something totally different to the way the current armies work, I think there is alot of overlap in tactics and methods of doing things that I wanted to avoid. My idea was to go for a weak group but who co-ordinate their attacks very well.....

Im not going to hyjack your thread here but I thought you might want to concider the way Ive been looking at doing their electrical based weapons...

The basic troopers are to be units of 5-10 all armed with their basic weapon (hadnt thought up a name yet but your arc-rifle sounds cool) with one death arc per five allowed in the unit. I also wanted VERY few heavy weapons, so like necros I needed a way for them to still be capable of taking out tanks. Basically what I came up with was an assault weapon with kinda rapid fire rules (but two shot at 24"range and three within 12"). I thought this represented well that there is no recoil and that they can be used on the move because of that and because electricity doesnt "fire straight" it doesnt requre them to stand still to aim.

Now how I made them be able to take out tanks with the basic guns...
Well the gun stats are 24"range special (as mentioned above) with no S or Ap. The death arc is Range 18" assault 5.

This is where it got odd and took me a long time to work out how I wanted the weapons to function. I ended up wanting the electricity to join together and fork appart (like lightning) to some degree but that it should be controlled.

So I came up with this... Before anything ALL units must declare what they are firing at. You then tally up the number of shots being fired at a unit... You then add them together to find out the S and Ap, for examnple, one shot is S1 Ap0. Two is S2 Ap6..... Four S4 Ap4..... And so on..... Up to a possible S10 (You can also add an additional one to make it S10 +2D6 pick the highest). All shots at a unit must have the same S and Ap and any left over are wasted.

    Say you have 20 shots at an enemy... I can choose to have 6 S3 Ap5 shots, 5 S4 Ap4 shots, 4 S5 Ap3 shots...... Up to 2 S10 Ap 1 shots....

The interesting thing is the way it works is that you cant shoot one unit, then think "mmm... its not dead yet, better shoot it some more" It all has to be declared before. And the few heavier tank based weapons work in the same way but with a larger range and more "shots".

Anyway, Im not expecting you guys to change anything that youve done, just thought Id share my ideas. Im goign to go back to reading the rest of the thread now (sorry if Ive missed anything thats already been suggested and dismissed). Also Id be interested in whatever codex youve worked out so far.

codex is really nice, but what is the point if no one is going to make sculpts for them ? they seem way too difficult to convert or scratchbuild for the average person.

what about ( and i meay seem mad here) an all walker army, so for troops walkers with armour 8 vechiles, and heavy suport obviously more, and then have them fast so quadrapeds for fast attack, and elites where they deep strike from the gorund and can assault (so dreadnaughtlike army but with poor close combat generally)

  18. #1398

    Re: Codex: Xenarch

How about a 4 legged, heavy walker as heavy support?
AV 14, big, with a big cannon mounted on the head/chest, whatever, with defensive weapons mounted on the deck/arms whatever. I'm thinkingn a scarab from halo.

Also, a field artillary peice would be sick, and what about some nuclear ( small scale ) weapons?

    Wow.
Since I last helped make this book i have drifted away from warhammer (blame uni) forgotten the rules, and started writing. Its only now I look back and realise how bad my writing was in this book
One day we will finish this book off properly, with great pictures and better writing and such. Just let me retrieve the old files from my old computer.

I miss this. Anyone who wants to take this further feel free. But when i get the time (and am home to download the stuff) ill be back.
