Re: Nurgle Polar Bear led Army on the Rise

Well, I am still deciding on a colour scheme for my Skullcrushers but I think I am close now. I dug up a couple of my old GW inks which I haven't used in years and I quite like how the armour has turned out with them.

(Still have a lot to finish only focused on a bit of the rider and the armour on the bear so far)

Oh yeah, I forgot to update this earlier.. I tried OSL for the first time as well. Not perfect but alright for a first attempt. Also still need to finish this model and fix up the face a bit.

Polar Bear cavalry for the autowin.

Nice effect on the red armor and glowing eyes!

    Thanks!
Its originally from the Maelstrom Games line, now Mierce Miniatures. They have some really nice sculpts and they are cast to a very high standard.

I might try some glowing on his staff as well but its at a weird angle to not really cast glow onto the sword well so not sure if I will try it or not.

    Bump?
For the past year since AoS killed my group's enthusiasm with warhammer I have become pretty obsessed with Kingdom Death and put my WoC in a box. But last weekend we played a 4000 point 8th ed game to celebrate my friend's 20 years of collecting warhammer and it got me inspired again to keep working on this army. I think I might try to finish it in between KDM projects, and start updating this thread again.

Have you tried the 9th Age(T9A)?
The game is picking up a lot of steam and seems it might suit your needs! :-)

Great too see this plog back in buissnes. I second Shieldwolf in that T9A or KoW are probably worth checking out.

I've met few warhammer players who don't prefer either of those to 8th ed. It certainly invigorated my enthusiasm a lot to check them out and get some distance from 8th ed.
(In KoW, your bear-skullcrushers are even on the correctly sized bases )

Re: Nurgle Polar Bear led Army on the Rise

I tried KoW a few weeks ago. There is no doubt that it is a more balanced system, but to me it felt a bit too bland and simple. I know the complexity is a big part of the problem with Warhammer, but to me balance issues don't matter as much as having a deep and characterful game. I also realise part of it is just stubbornness since I have been with the warhammer world for more than 15 years. I have not tried 9th ed, my friend looked into it and thought it looked good but hesitated on giving it a try, don't remember why. We are a bit in limbo now divided on where to go, and get very little gaming sessions in lately anyway which is why it stalled and I just started playing Kingdom Death with my girlfriend.

Anyway, to keep things on track... A while ago I started on the warrior who rides the other gorebeast chariot. I want to paint him before gluing it all together and would like to get it glued. Just base colours at the moment. Then I need to try to remember the technique I was using for the skull crushers!

So after Kingdom Death for the last 18 months, I am back to working on this army again. Yep, I'm a very slow painter!

I have started work converting a hellcannon for my army.

    And getting the Warriors going.

I'm not sure if I had seen your work previously, but I had a read through the whole thread and I'm very excited to see where you take it from here! Have you painted anything from Kingdom Death? How do you like the game?

I'm coining it right now, Warhammer 20K.
