Needed a HQ femur for another chaos champion and had to pick this guy up as well.

The zombie is great, really like the basing and the vibrant colours!

    Re: Learning to paint again

Thanks dudes. The zombie was easy. Foundry cadaverous green layers with the citadel yellow glaze on top. The base is the three foundry granite colours and seemed to paint itself, which was nice.

Hi all. Quick post today, I don't like coming on and not posting on other threads so will be back tomorrow. I tried out wet blending on this one never really worked though. Still not bad so will try again on the next one. Sadly my varnish has gone off, I got most of it sorted but not all.
    Thanks for looking.

I done this one as sort of a self portrait.

    Re: Learning to paint again

Two posts in one month I'm on fire!

I decided to paint up a 3rd ed Dwarf army so I have some kind of target to work towards. Don't worry I'm about as focused as a puppy on a sugar rush so expect everything but Dwarfs.
First up one of the greatest minis currently sold by GW. In my army he is a Dwarf warrior with shield - 11 points. For those who care I know he's not got a shield but stilts give a +1 save

Now all he needs is a suitably epic AoS name.

Does he sport a massive comb over? That would be a really odd and cool detail

    Duardin Ur-Gold Cachemaster on Steamstilts?

    He's awesome!

    Re: Learning to paint again

He is a great mini the whole dwarf adventurer box is fantastic and good value. With the rubbish beard and comb over he's definitely compensating with those stilts.
    Abyssal beard cloud strider?

Over a month since I last posted damm this playboy lifestyle. I also took my camera to work and lost my normal settings so I'm hoping they still come out alright. Anyway a dragon ogre painted in 4th Ed red. Now back to my private yacht for cocktails with Dean Martin.

Oh I also tried nurgles rot on the base and bought some weathering powder to try out some time. Thanks for looking.

Great stuff here. As well as being older miniatures your work has a lovely old school feel about it in the choice of colours.
    Very nostalgic, love it!

Thanks BoyMilla I try to paint in a gritty realistic style that somehow always ends up looking like a Saturday morning cartoon.

    Re: Learning to paint again

Been a while since I last posted I have reasons though. I painted up a mini and ordered a scenic base for them from micro art studio . After a month of waiting I stormed into their website in a rage ready to bring the pain then I saw the payment pending thing. So guess I'm abit stupid. Any way its Orctober so I painted up an Orc which I like but my other half thinks he should be in a gay pride parade. Also tried freehand painting a shield. Enjoy!

    Re: Learning to paint again

So apparently when you order things correctly micro art studio deliver quite quickly, who would have guessed?
To try and combat my tendency to paint things up too cartooney I decided to go for my first AOS mini the mighty lord of Khorne with a daemonic flesh hound. I used large amounts of Blood for the blood God while listening to death metal.

Turned out alright I think. Ok its foul ol'Ron from the Discworld in honer of Terry Prattchet. This was my first attempt at using weathering powders which turned out ok but nothing the online tutorials said would happen did. I'm going to play with them some more and see what works and what doesn't. I also panted up the duck man.

This month I will be doing some more Dwarfs I think and working on getting consistent results with the camera.

Thanks for looking now I better get to work.

You mean you're not a rabbit?

Great plog, it seems to me that you're learning fast. Gorfang's shield is especially nice.

Ha Ha no I'm not a rabbit but everything I own is covered in rabbit hair so I'm quite close. I could see Gorfang's shield clearly in my head it was going to be a scary leering daemon's face. Some where along the line it ended up looking like a pleasantly surprised cat.

    Merry Christmas everyone!
A quick update tonight. I hit the wall while painting dwarfs so decided to take a break by painting a space marine. Its the best face I have done so far but my camera skills still need some work, the mini really looks somewhere between the two pictures. Thanks for looking.

That face is really good, but the yellow armour is even better.

    Re: Learning to paint again

Thanks aku-chan. I nicked the technique for the armor from here http://www.mengelminiatures.com/2015...fists.html?m=1 really easy to do. A base of bone then layers of yellow glaze with white highlights.

    Re: Learning to paint again

The first set of minis I ever bought was either some plastic Chaos Dwarfs or Bugman's rangers. This post contains neither of these things. Chaos dwarfs cost around 10,000 a mini and I'm not a fan of the 3rd set of Bugman's rangers the poses are too static. These are the 2nd set of Bugman's released and my personal favorite. It was my love of Bugman that made me into the brewer I am today, sort of, I make whisky. I am now working on a Dark Elf black Dragon and considering the time it took me to paint 9 dwarfs it should be finished the year 2525.

    My camera work still sucks
