da Viking Kommandos (Orc Blood Bowl Team)

Here`s my go at Blood Bowl:

First my Thrower. He was a real pain to make cause of the pointing finger. But I just knew I had to have him pointing and it turned out really cool.


Then it`s the three Blitzers. You see now that I`ve made the shoulder pads the "uniform" part of them. I`ve tried to make each one slightly individual but still that everyone understands what they are.


Okay so last up for this time is the blorc blockers. I thought for a long time about basing them on Nobs but ditched that idea cause of all of the filing I would`ve had to do. Still these boyz turned out really great and it was as simple as beefing up on the shoulder guards.

looks good so far, my only problem is the hands are not finished yet i assume, and spoil the model, apart form that, great conversions and a great idea! first thrower looks brilliant, the finger really makes the model unique

Looking cool! I've toyed with the idea of making a plastic Orc BB team as well. Too bad I never play the game (no local opponents).

Please tell me you are going to model Night Goblin fanatic cheerleaders with pompoms instead of steel balls (uh-huh-huh... steel balls).

@Steel Legion: no they ain`t but the next time I`m posting pics they`re done and I had to borrow a camera to take these.

@Melchor: Well plastics do make it a lot easier to get the poses right, I`d say go for it still! As for cheerleaders I got some nasty surprise coming

@WillFightForFood: The iron jaw is from the Space Ork plastic set and the mask is from the Orc Regiment set.

Mate. Those are great! I really like the Black Orcs and the Blitzers. they really look hard core and look like they should. (are the black orcs from Ard boyz torsos?) The mask on the black Orc on the right looks awesome.

The thrower's ball just looks a little flat for my liking. If you could beef it out a bit (make it fatter) I think it'd add a whole lot more to the model.

You going to make any star players for the team??

Yeah the torsos on the blorcs are from the Ard boyz sprue. I`ve been mixing orcs & orks part around here to get the best fits.

I`ve thought about star players but I kinda want to make my own and not any of GWs. I`ve got a pretty good idea on how to make a blorc blocker as a star player, he will have to be dubbed "da movin`mountain"

Looking very nice, I'd suggest you add a snotling that has ran straight into the greave of one of the blockers, you know, pressed aggainst it with his arms and legs in an x-shape

I was thinking of starting BB with orcs................seeing these has inspired me to do so when I get the appropriate bits I need to make my own custom team

@cookiescrumble: well that was my initial thought when starting this team, just got a heck of a lot orcy/orky bits lying around.

Oh and as for bits, the great thing about orcs is that everything goes ya know

I`ve now completed the 7 linemen. Only 1 gobbo, the coach and cheerleader left before painting starts.

Ideas on the coach? A fat orc in a suit with a cigar maybe?

I`m also thinking about using the Minnesota Vikings colour scheme. Any opinions on it?

Do you have any old copies of WD? In WD 220, 221 and 223 at least there`s a lot about BB + ya got the rules online at GW BB site.

Anyhoo, here`s a pic of 4 of my linemen, right as I was trying to take the second pic the cam`s battery went flat..

good except orc number 3 looks far too square and flat, id recommend raising the sholder pad or something, apart form that cool! especially number 4!

hey ho, likin the work so far! not meaning to hijack, but here's a way to get a running lineman:

(the second pic is some other linemen of mine. I stuck to 40k orks on mine, mainly for the helmets, and they look a bit more armour 9ish!)

Still, i'd very much like to see a purple/yellow orc team

@Steel Legion: yeah I know what you mean, but I do think the paintjob will fix the "flatness". If not it isn`t to much work repositioning the pad.

@sparks: like them linemen of yours! I just don`t got that many pads left since a lot of mine are used in my orc and ork armies. Still really unsure about the purplebut I`m gonna give it a go at least.
