    Norsemen

I managed to get lots and lots of painting time last weekend, it have unfortunately taken all of this week just to get the time to do the bases...

Here we have a unit of Norse Bondi troops with the addition of some bärsärka type miniatures thrown into the lot.

I have a growing collection of Norsemen but I havn´t to my knowlage shown these here in the historical section. Some of them have been seen in my "Skägglavsfantasy" (Tree-moss fantasy) thread over at the fantasy part here.

When times are given I will try to update the backlogg for some time or maybe I will just keep posting new stuff here. We will see how things develope.

Atleast I can fill up with some more resent work. I will spare you from the older stuff.

Here we have some Norse stone slings.

Nothing fancy, but they will do the job.

    Re: Norsemen

These are the last miniatures I have painted since my sudden Norse reboot I had resently.

I found this halfpainted unit of Bondi troops in a box. Now finished they are ready to be fielded on a table.

Nice Bondi. I'm getting ready to paint some of mine here soon along with some additional hirdmen and warlords.

It feels good to paint some historical again after a small hiatus.

It looks like you used GB heads on the Conquest heads, is that right? I have done that before, it's not simple but you have done a nice job of it.

    Re: Norsemen

    Thanks guys.

These are Conquest games right from the sprues. They have surly improved on their plastic kits.

I plan to use these with Hail Caesar or Lions Rampant rules.
They are intented to be used with my Vikings but I think they could be mixed in ti my medieval collection with out a problem.

Oh I thought I had recognised some of the heads but I must be mistaken.

    Re: Norsemen

    The shields are handpainted.

Its about time to make a new army picture of the collection...

    http://kampgruppe-engel.blogspot.se/...kinga-har.html

In Hail Caesar this would translate roughly to:

    5x units of Hirdmen
1 small unit of veteran ex. Varangian Guards
    5x units of Bondi
    1 small unit of Bondi
1 small unit of Thrals with javelins
1 small unit of Bondi light infantry archers
1 small unit of Drengr skirmishers
1 small unit of Drengr skirmishers with slings
1 unit of Bondi with bows
    1 small unit of Ulfhednar
    some traders and some kids
    4 Norse chieftains
some Pagan priest/ advisors and a Bard
    some Einhärjar/Valkyria type of Shieldmaidens
1 small unit of Christian priests and some wounds markers.
    1 small unit of Ryttare

So the big question is where to go from this?
Maybe some mounted type of scouts, maybe a large round command base for the overall commander of the whole hird.

    Re: Norsemen

Thanks Martin. You are probably right.
At the moment Im thinking about keeping them as it is. Hero types of charachters will get round bases but the regular mortals will be rectangular.

And as you mentioned, those horses sure could need some love... They are in a bad state at the moment.
