Grandfather Nurgle is proud...he's suitably revolting. In a good way.

Well he has some painted friends now! I've been laid low for two days with hay fever so instead of doing the PhD work I couldn't focus on I've been slowly painting instead. I might hate this time of year because of trees and their stupid pollen, but at least its generally sunny outside. I've finished painting the first five of my Putrid Blightkings that have been in various stages of paint on my desk for over two months now.

    Moar in next post!

Since I don't have as much time for painting these days as I'd like I thought a Nurgle force would be a decent place to attempt a hybrid of my normal style with the speed of Blanchitsu. All of the skin on these guys is washes over a white undercoat + a Pallid Wych Flesh highlight at the end. Pretty much everything else is a watery basecoat over white + wash or two + highlight. Pretty pleased with the result if I do say so myself! I also have a Death Guard force for 40K (in boxes...) which will have a more unified colour scheme, so for the AoS Nurgle force I decided a more ragtag horde approach would be something different. To this end all of my skin/ceramic armour schemes are variations of each other. For example, the skin is a thin coat of Reikland Fleshade over white, but then I have three different detail wash stages that each have multiple options (with some overlap), and a similar principle for the armour. The end result is everything from sickly bluey-green tints to a yellowy jaundice looking tone.

    Now some individual shots:

And before silverstu says anything, yes I realise they aren't based yet! I'm aiming for some nasty, rank swamp style bases, but since I'll be using a lot of casting resin for water effects I'll be doing the bases all in one hit at the end.

I've also made use of the rare commodity that is free time to start splitting the Reaper Bones 3 kickstarter into storage tubs.

And work on October's ToBGP entry. It's so close to done that a WIP shot is pointless, so you get a teaser instead. Definitely the most colourful model I've ever painted.

The two photos of the blight kings I can see look great - suitably disgusting but with some really nice vibrant colour as well.

The other two posts have been photo-bucketed though

Weird, I could see them fine so I thought the Photobucket issue had gone away. Put the fix in place. Can you see them now?

All working now, and even more gruesome up close! Intrigued to see what the ToBGP entry is.

The photobucket issue seems weirdly inconsistent. I've managed to avoid it somehow for now, and I have no idea why.

As if I'd mention the lack of basing....

Love those blight kings - really lovely tones and just with washes and a single highlight? It works really well- I had no idea that was a Blanchitsu.. interesting..increasingly I am liking my washes.. Great stuff mate- lets see more ... basing would nice....

You? Never, don't know why I even mentioned it.

Well it is what I think of when Blanchitsu gets mentioned anyway...

On another note, with the upcoming Tyranids codex on the horizon I find myself considering a monster-heavy Nids force again...

And I've been contemplating a dual-Tantalus Wych Cult list for the Dark Eldar I have sitting in boxes still...

Ask and ye shall receive. This entry for the ToBGP is The Hand. Sword master extraordinaire, The Hand is the only enemy you never truly kill. The fight ends if you land enough blows to embarrass him and he storms off in a huff, you survive his toying with you long enough that he becomes impressed, applauds you, and leaves a gift, or your survivors becomes survivors julienne. He reminds me of a fop duelist from yesteryear which I think comes off really well with the colour scheme. Definitely the most colourful model I've ever painted!

I'm super happy with the new Nid codex- seems like they really have their vibe back from 2nd and 3rd ed and the kits are soooooo lovely. I have been painting -just need to photograph them and open a new photo hosting account [stupid photobucket!!!]. Dark eldar are another lovely range too and then there is the new Necromunda with my eschers in plastic.. Sadly my mate doesn't remember Necromunda and has stated he'd be interested in play AoS if we got back to anything.. just when I'm in full 40k mode..

Nice Kingdom of Death model.. suitably weird model and I love the bright colours you've got going on, the yellow in particular is fantastic and the whole scheme looks very rich.

If only he was based properly.....

Photobucket still works if you replace "jpg" with "jpg~original" in the [IMG] tags.

My hypothetical Nids force involves a core of Tervigons/Termagaunts, and then lots of big nasties like carnifexes and Trygons .
