    FC's 4th Ed Shenanigans

    Right.

A little bit of background I think.

I've been painting miniatures for 26 years and gaming for almost as long. The advent of Age of Sigmar has forced me to think about where I want to go as a painter and gamer. The answer. Back to the 90's.

I promise that this isn't a (not quite) mid-life crisis.

This has led to some restructuring. My group has no intention of moving beyond 8th Ed, but by the same token, they don't want to leave 8th behind either. With this in mind I have thought about my armies and where they will stand.
My Elf armies will remain my only 8th Ed armies and as such I'll continue to maintain my Elf plog.
My Chaos army will be rebuilt with 4th Ed in mind. I'll be leaving my Chaos Plog to die and moving my progress over to this new plog.
Some of you may have seen my Chaos Dwarf plog. This will continue to be separate and updated as and when necessary.

    Now.

After collecting all of the 4th Ed boxed sets and army books (I was very, very lucky in that I got the Chaos box, Battle Magic and Arcane Magic with all of the cards still unpunched) and I have played a few games, I am more enthusiastic about my hobby than I have been for a long time.

This plog will focus on my Chaos, Bretonnian, Dwarf, Empire, Skaven, Orc & Goblin and Undead armies.

    Yes, that's right.

Finally, before I get to the pictures, I have to say that this will not be all retro miniatures. Some, the ones I like, will be more current. However, there will be plenty of stuff from 4th and 5th edition and in some cases, even earlier.

Hope you like what you see

    FC

This is all excellent! Your painting is stunning and it's not very usual to see vintage minis painted at such a high standard! I'm of course especially thrilled about your brets!

    Sweet, mate! Everything looks lovely.

I did the same with 5th edition not long ago (close enough to 4th edition, and I'm not even sure if I'll go 4th or 5th Chaos rules).

    Re: Fanny's 4th Ed Shenanigans

All the models are awesome (though man at arms is a bit too dark for my taste, especially if we're talking about 4th/5th Edition); the Banshee is exceptional, I love the cold style of thd Dwarf (and the blueish Oathstone). Skaven and Chaos are also great (and fit the cleaner style of the 4th edition perfectly).

    All in all, great work!

Lovely, outstanding painting that really catches the essence of the minis, and makes me a bit nostalgic to say the least.

We've settled on 4th now (with 5th High Elf, Bret and Lizzie books and I've got my eye on the Champions of Chaos book too) We're currently reverse engineering my mates Ogre army with great success.

Thanks! My Brets are going to look like they've been campaigning for a while, all bruised and bloody and beaten. (Not too beaten though, I don't want to give my opponents the wrong impression ) I won't be painting so much in a 4th Ed style, no one wants to go back to Goblin Green bases

Thanks, as I say, I've not has this much fun with my hobby (or as many games) in years.

    Some simply outstanding work dude.

I had to take a knee whenbthe saw your dwarf... The muted blue tone are like nothing I've ever seen on a Dwarf model.

Makes me want to start a Dwarf project.... One thing at a Tim! Haha.
