    3D printed terrain and bits

3D printing is a new technology which give model makers and war-gamer great opportunity to create unique gaming or scenery piece.
Since I got a 3D printer I started to design and built what I was not finding on market or what I can't afford...

I open this thread to share all the benefits of 3D printing.

The first thing I've design is a simple gun carriage to use my leftover Imperial guard heavy weapon.

Very cool. My new job has a 3D printer (and we'll soon get a second, plus a laser cutter) and I'm looking forward to printing out some terrain bitz.
As a long-time Goblin player, I can reliably inform you that failure is ALWAYS an option.

Wow, I'm loving the plain windows on those ruins. I think a few broken ones would add a bit, but it definitely completes the terrain. It makes a big difference!

Liking the gun carriages too, great way to make use of the leftover bits.

Re: 3D printed terrain and bits

I had a basilica administratum box, with which you can only build a small ruined building, except if you buy other box...
So I designed windows and stairs to build an extension.
I use the original bits for the front of the building. Will add to side and a back, from 5mm Depron.

Re: 3D printed terrain and bits

Happy new year to all !
Used my holiday time to built a modular pipeline system.
Found an amazing design on Thingiverse, scaled it to fit 20 mm plastic tube i got (the one used to run electric cables)
Built straight length (short and long), some curve, end cap and "going to ground" section :

Your 3d terrain looks great! You make me jealous, man. At the moment I'm working on some buildings but I have big problems with creating cool details for it and stuff like windows.

    @ MattijsPels : Thanks.
In case of you want some windows and have no acces to a 3d printer, you can have it printed for you by Shapeways just there : http://www.shapeways.com/shops/bulldogmini :

I've designed a new kit, to use pringles tube leftover after some fellow friends visit, and trnasform them into some industrial terrain. Pics coming soon.

Re: 3D printed terrain and bits

Thanks for the pipe link, have been looking for something like this for some 40mm pip lines.

What did you you use to slice the files, I tried Slic3R but it claimed the models had 34,000 errors :-(

I think that I might use the originals as an inspiration to create my own in blender.

    @ Odd_Socks : the design i used is this one http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1056331
It is originally designed for 3/4 inch tubing, so I used slic3R to scale it to fit my 20mm tube.
Had no error report from slic3R.

This is some really nice work. I like the pringles can walkways and the void shield generator the best, but this is all very inspiring and makes me wish I could find the time to improve my 3D design skills.
