    Genestealer Cult

In case you live under a rock, under a hill, under the Sea, you might like to know that Deathwatch Overkill is a spanking new GW boardgame that comes with 39 Genestealer Cult (GSC) miniatures. They are exquisite, and would make 1.5 full GSC gangs, right off the sprue. The ONLY drawback I can see is they might not be perfectly convertible for weapon swaps. But, what is, right? They beg for GSC gang rules that include their new additions (Aberrants, and Primus). Plus a ready made "industrial miners" theme, with industrial weapons.

    Re: Genestealer Cult

It would make a perfect gang even if you were just proxying and not using the GSC rules (whatever version of them is floating around today).

Has it been mentioned if the models are multi pose or just a few parts? Whatever the case, it shouldn't be too hard to swap in a few laz or auto weapons as needed...

    Re: Genestealer Cult

The models are generally mono-pose, but come in multiple pieces. They remind me a lot of the Dark Vengeance Cultists. However, some of them can apparently be put together in different ways. The Aberrants at least were designed that way - two sets of legs and two torsos that can be alternately assembled to produce four different models. Someone suggested that some of the Hybrids could also be swapped around in the same manner. Regardless, many of the heads are separate bits and so can easily be swapped around or replaced with something new, and many of the pistols, knives and claws on the 1st & 2nd generation Hybrids could be switched around fairly easily to have a few less identical models.

They theme towards 1st and 2nd Generation hybrids carry hand weapons (and claws), while 3rd and 4th are more autoguns. The big heavy weapons are industrial and require three "arms" (would be used by a "normal" miner with a servo arm). Anyway, 2nd gen hybrids.

Again, SCREAMS for custom rules that work (i.e., not too powerful, not too weak, not too complicated).

OK, I'm holding the sprues in my hand. Weapons swaps would be child's play. Except for the three armed heavy weapons.

Excellent models, I was worried they might be 30mm but they are perfect for Necromunda. A 20 year dream is soon to be realised!

Indeed. It's too much to hope that whenever Specialist Games 'comes back' that Necromunda will have a full revamp that will keep everyone happy, let alone have Genestealer Cult rules, but for now I'm happy to use Ash Wastes rules or perhaps the Redemptionist gang rules. Seems perfect that the same rules that serve a cult of the emperor would get twisted by an alien infection

There were around 5 fan-written Genestealer Cult gangs floating about the Net. None of them perfect. These Ghosar Cult mini's really demand new rules.

    Re: Genestealer Cult

Personally, I'd make a genestealer simply be the following: a normal ganger with two chainswords and plus one movement and reroll any ballistic skill advances. Cost ten additional creds (110). It cannot under any circumstances be given any other equipment ever and can never be a gang leader. I think this involves more balance and less complexity than many fan mods I've seen, even if it also slightly favourless.

So I guess that this kind of happened.......sorta. Some conversion still needed, but good profiles and skill tables etc.

We used to play 'hunt the 'stealer' missions sometimes in the old campaign. 2nd ed 'stealer stats plus appropriate skills.

There is only one of them... Brutal...
