I believe the new rules have toned down Ordnance slightly. Not sure what else has happened. Also I think that fighters can suppress enemy turrets when they make a combined attack in a wave with bombers.

Will those rules also be put up for free on their website?

My last info was that the release 2 of BFG was binned together with the shrink of Fanatic.

Maybe some of the new fleet lists included officially?

    Have fun,

    ?? ??

Were'd this info come from, Fracas?

A printed BFG v2.0 was gone as a possibility when Specialist Games was reduced in staff.

Last I heard, the "High Admiralty" BFG Rules Review people have been talking about starting a serious review towards an online "BFG v2.0" update, but they were saying that only about a month ago. I feel safe saying I'm quite sure that the process can hardly have begun in earnest, much less have been completed. With that in mind, I can see no way at all that we will get a fully-laid-out new revision to BFG by even the end of July, barring a miracle. And should that miracle somehow happen, it'll be available online, so everyone in the whole world would be able to get it, not just the US market.

Can this be some erroneous "ghost" information, a hold-over from a marketing or magazine write-up six months ago, like the still-unavailable "Thorian Inquisitor" figure and "The Thorians" printed supplement for the Inquisitor game, which according to White Dwarf Magazine were to be released last month?
Apparently, he had a very good time:

    I second the ???? comments.

Where does this come from? Best news on Gothic releases from SG I've heard are the proposed Tau Commerce Protection Fleet playtest rules which were due in May and the Mars 'style' Fleet(no new rules, just Martian looking ships), but I don't know the dates intended for them.

I'd be interested in the new rules, but not in paying the insane prices GW has been charging of late.

I like "old" BFG, though I haven't played it for a while.

Ironically, I got must of my stuff at the online Bargain Basement when GW pulled the plug on it after its big debut has fizzled.

Didn't think that BFG needed a tune up, to me it's one of the most complete of GW's games. Strange indeed.

I agree. As written, it's pretty solid. Nothing jumped out at me during my games as in need of a fix. You can't say that about any other GW game: Most require glaringly obvious mending.

But I'm willing to look at any edits or revisions that speed and enhance game play.

    Re: BFG v2

The major changes I think they intend to make are

1- Ordnance Limits, change so fleets of all attack craft carriers cannot launch and launch and launch and launch....
2- Nova Cannons brought in line with 40k barrage weapons, scatter instead of guess.(it penalised inexperienced players and veterans would never miss...)

A few other tweaks, like point values and such, are necessary, but nothing so much so that it ruins games currently. In fact, I'd agree, in its present written incarnation it *is* one of GWs most fine games, but it's still not perfect

    They've already done this...

    Re: BFG v2

I must admit, I too am slightly confused by all of this as I had heard that a volume two had been binned. Recently both Fanatic and Black Library have suffered setbacks to pay for the 'warhammer online' debacle, although tbh I think BFG is a fine set of rules, and the two main gripes have already been dealt with, as has already been pointed out.

    Re: BFG v2

in the latest issue of US WD #306 (subcribers get it earlier), the advance order/release section for specialist game listed BFG v2 as coming out in July. i was quite stunned by that as well since it was just a single line, no pictures, no description or anything. and given the recent reorganization of Specialists i was quite surprised.

Aaah, a White Dwarf listing...... that's unfortunate, but not really surprising.

That's one of those written-months-prior pieces of "ghost" information I was mentioning, without a doubt. There's nothing at all behind it except a lack-of-coordination muck-up.

It'll be just like the case of the =I= scale Thorian miniature and the Inquisitor supplement that appeared in a White Dwarf as being due for release in May: never happened.

This then begs the question: Why bother with a new release when all that you're looking at is minor erratta?

I know, I know, GW never balks at the opportunity to sell everyone the same game twice, but this is odd even for them...

    Re: BFG v2

The original intent, I think, was to make a major reconstruction of the main rulebook, to include all of the corrections and clarifications and such that have piled up to date, so that people don't have to have the rulebook, a bunch of errata/FAQ/rules addition sheets, and other such sundries in order to play...... hardly a minor change.

And of course, all of that can still be done, only in an online Living Rule Book, which is the current plan to the best of my understanding.

The only explanation for a White Dwarf "New Release" statement on a new version of BFG is that whoever put that WD edition together is completely FUBAR........

    Re: BFG v2

There was a forum dedicated to BFG 2nd ed on the Red Star Games forum (where Andy C moved to) will see if I can find it.

Can remember one of the odd things that they were doing was replacing the gunnery table with a dice roll (4+ to hit closing, 5+ for moving away and 6+ for abeam) with one mention that abeam and moving away might be switched to make it more intuative (i.e the numbers go from front to back) but this had a lot of opposition.

Nope, not there at the moment so presumably it moved back to SG. Was there for a bit though, sure I didn't just dream it

Tasty: So you'd roll weapons batteries like lances?

    Sounds pretty lame to me.
