As you expect really, very fast and agile ships but fragile.
They got no shields(they got holofields) so you can lightning strike/board them right from the start which makes data recovery missions quite difficult for them.
And Ork ships can just wreck your fleet since they can't survive getting rammed by them.
They are also very micro-managing, alot more so then the other factions since all their guns are at the front so you have to constantly turn them around so they can fire their weapons(but they turn on a dime pretty much).
I also find that transport escorts are quite easy with them since their transport ships are like the rest of the eldar, fast. Atleast with the AI, your ships will be halfway across the map before they come into contact with 1 enemy ship.
So a tricky faction as to be expected but their ships are gorgeous, simply beautiful.

Played it a little bit today, shame that other captains are still nameless nancies, I feel like a scrub though as I cannot do convoy missions at all, the orks ram them pretty much one shotting them... and i'm on easy mode (I play for story really).

No idea how you do it but what I do, put them all one side and send them straight forward and the rest of the fleet next to them.
Orks come in, distract them with the main fleet and if they do get past the fleet, use the boosters on the transport when you see that a ork ship lining himself up since they can't turn worth a damn.
And don't forget to use slow-mo.
Playing on Normal and so far, all my ships has gotten through.

Also Use the special order, always have 1 active, use the lightning bolt symbol, it speeds up special maneuvers e.g faster reload to boost again.
Also to be mean when u get to upgrade transports, pick shield upgrades for passing through asteroid fields and watch your enemy smash themselves to bits.

Out of fav factions, defiantly the eldar, you get use to the micro managing, pick deploy shadow fighters as a skill on ships without bays and mini warp jump, anything else stick with time bomb and plasma bomb, the shield take down is useless, plasma bomb does 50% shield damage most of the time and hull damage.
Can 1 shot escort ships with down shields if you can hit them. Use the jumps to get out of the way from ork rams/ imp rams and torps.
They have nerfed the nova cannon's firing accuracy, makes me sad.
Eldar, upgrade the void shields with your help special upgrades, only adsorbing 90% weapons fired is awesome.
then speed and lances nuff said.
Also for 3 of 4 eldar faction choices are buffs to troops attacking and all defending, so don't be to worried about having lightning strikes hit you all the time.

Imps, Macro cannon the hell out of everything and torp spam, they are so slow they make orks look quick, but dont try fight your macro cannons at their top range as 50% shots miss.
Make sure you upgrade macro-cannon accuracy first, and your hull/ torps.
Pick perks jump, plasma bomb, probe and cant remember the name but it forces the enemy to attack your ship and removes their special abilities for a set amount of time, dead hand vs chaos.

Chaos: Lances all the way, stay at furthest range and spam lances, upgrades the same as imps but lance focus.

Orks; I haven't fully tested, but making them tougher, and ram/ close combat focused.

Game out, and it is glorious. They have dont a really good job of capturing the feel and atmosphere of the 40k universe.

Yeah that worked much better, won't be taking in game advice again feel like a scrub though as I am only playing on easy mode, I did the protect the inquisitors ship recently, first time he died during the warp jump cut scene so it was a failure this time he squeeked through on barely any hp at all, major kudos to people doing this on harder difficulties.

Has anyone been having problems running the game - I've just downloaded it on steam and it doesn't seem to want to start...?

Best go to the steam forums or FAQs for that sort of thing, usually works for me.

    Re: Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Beta

Look forward to testing them tonight, been waiting for them and I notice there's 5 chapters to choose from in the video clip not 4 as per all other factions? or was that just including the default Ultra Vanilla marines.

    Re: Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Beta

UM, BA, DA, IF and SW are all playable, only cosmetic differences really, captain portraits are different for each chapter but no advantages for selecting any chapter other the next one which is something that hopefully could be brought in in the future.

I've seen a hell of a lot of people complaining on the steam forum about how weak and unplayable they are, but I think that they are honestly playing them wrong and trying to slug out each match instead of using hit and run attacks.

I only managed about six skirmish games on standard difficulty last night and won all of them, haven't faced eldar yet but I've been hearing that it's a very hard match against them.

    Re: Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Beta

I played eldar twice, they are major hurt, especially those lances. I love their assualt torpedoes that home in, guaranteed hit and damage. Thunderhawks even with the strike upgrade are lack luster, more durable but less bang for your buck.
The play more like chaos except without all the lances, and more front on heavy cannons. Their best strength is assaulting, even low un-upgraded lightning assaults do more damage than any other faction, which makes sense.

I found the loading very slow the first time. It's still not that fast now (then again, I think my computer might need a zimmer soon).
