very good skills - really vibrant in true Eldar style

Awesome stuff. Again, huge fan of the older yellow+black Ulthwe style. What do you call those small alligator clips? I was looking for some recently and couldn't figure out how to locate them. Used to use the same thing in high school (dowel rod with the little clips) but I don't know where to find them.

    Thank you a lot.
@Elbows of Death: I got those clips on Ebay. Just type "painting clips" and voila. I thought too they were common in hobby shops, but actually I never found them.

    Hello again. Finally I finished.

Here the platform steps: first the usual highlight.

    And the gems.

    Then weapons and other details.

I wanted to try something new for bases, so I used these nice little leaves, but just on the leader's one.

They're quite easy to apply, using a brush and the proper glue

    And finally...ta-da!

As I said, I really like platform and gunners models.

And that's the next project. Warhost building continues.

Very impressive Homeworld. I'm always awed by painters who can do edge highlights like the ones on your Ulthwe. How do you do it? Each edge and a lot of patience? Or do you cheat a bit?

    Thank you guys.

@ blackcherry: yes, I paint almost every edge and that's a slow (and sometimes tiring) process. I'm not sure what you mean with "cheating". Obviously I don't paint every line, 'cause it would give a strange effect. Basically I try to reach a "gloss-plastic" effect, considering that Eldar armour plates should be made of alien artificial material. I draw some lines over plain and dull surfaces in order to give suggestion of light reflections. Sometimes I have to "invent" them, to a certain degree.

    Hello guys.

In the last months I worked on an Eldar support weapon battery. Now I'm going to finish (hurrah for Christmas holidays!)

    These are the first steps.

I used Vallejo plastic putty to close heavy weapons' fissures.

I wanted a stripe decoration for weapons' shields, so I used the airbrush.

And the final result, after a black layer.

I painted two weapons sets for each platform: D-Cannon and the Shadow Weaver.

And here we go with last touches.

As usual, I painted the various parts separately. Space between gunners and weapons is narrow, and it's difficult to reach tiny details if you assemble and glue the whole model.

I magnetized two gunners (the ones at control stations), so I can remove them as first casualties. Or in case I would use them as operators for some task in a special scenario.

    And finally, it's finished.

Really lovely work- nice, crisp and clean -they look great, the yellow chevrons really sets off the whole scheme and the gunners are gorgeous. Planning on getting some support weapons myself at some stage- I hope they look as good as yours.
Don't rush with the painting! Quality rather than quantity !

Re: My NEW Ulthwe Army Log

    I have a little dilemma.

The Vyper is a very old model (I bought one of these three about twenty years ago, actually) and has a little flaw: in the kit there's not a shuriken cannon variant for the hull. Besides, it has the same housing of old Eldar Jetbikes, which is arranged for the twin linked shuriken catapults. Sure, I could use that old bike shuriken cannon, but I have not enough spare parts for three vypers, and I would like a removable piece, in case I want to swap weapons with ease.

    Here the underbody.

So I decided to insert a magnet under that optical device (a targeter, I guess).

I used a shuriken cannon from the guardians platform, removing the upper canister.

And that's the overall effect with the canopy.

I don't know. I'm not very sold, because the heavy weapon it's very visible: it breaks too much the smooth line of the veichle, I guess.
