Yet another update (sorry for the frequency of them, I have a lot of content to share!)

This is my commander. He comes from the vostroyan range but I think he fits quite well with my army. I gave him a gas mask and sword - a minor conversion.

    Hello, All

One of my first games with the army completely painted and boy does it ever feel good the troops being supported by basilisks gives the army a striking appearance. I think I need to paint more infantry though! (also, aegis defence lines are not worth their points now...)

Speaking of infantry, here is an ogryn model I finished a while ago. If you look closely, you will notice that I used the body of a warhammer ogre model and glued the ripper gun on. I actually like the conversion - it makes the model appear much more bulky and fits with the medieval theme of the army.

My next post will feature some more ogryn conversion that I made for my heralds of ruin kill team (a campaign that was played by the members of my community).

Fantastic looking army. I love the combination of Bret bodies with gas-mask heads. It's such an evocative, characterful look, and really captures the "poor bloody infantry" feel of the Guard. The converted Ork plane also looks perfect for this force.

    Looking forward to more!

    Hello, All

Update: just showing some more of my painted stuff plus some WIPs

Another heavy weapons team - this one with lascannons:

Two finished psykers - I may use these as primaris or astropaths (really happy with how the candles turned out on these):

And, my ogryn kill team models:

If you look on the heralds of ruin page, you can see the rules they have for different ogryn models - some can carry heavy weapons while others can take special armour!

Next, I will showcase my hq command squads (these were made back in 7th edition, so they will include their commanders)

Yup - that is precisely the look I was going for (especially for those peasants). And yes, the ork plane turned out well. I think the colour scheme meshes well with the army too!

    Update!

With all the painting I've been doing lately, I thought it'd be appropriate to post a full army photo of everything I have finished so far:

As you can see, I have made some major additions to the army. I have almost doubled my boots on the ground and have painted some characters like the inquisitors and servo-skulls (they were legitimate in 7th edition and may come back with an inquisition codex perhaps). Also, some units (flyers and conscripts) aren't in the photos - fear not! I will post a BIG picture once all of these are together!

I will post more individual photos of some of the special characters soon - stay tuned!

Re: Iron Kid's Trench Themed Astra Militarum

    Hello,

I am still in the process of gathering all my guys up to take a group photo but for the time being, here is a photo of my new tank paint scheme.

I wanted to change my scheme for all my tanks from brown to this grey/brown. I felt that the original scheme clashed too much with the colour of my infantry's guns. Think the new scheme compliments the army well. Additionally, the darker colour contrasts with the gold trimmed guns and darkens the slightly bright colours of the infantry.

Also, this is my scratch built searchlight. I am making two of these things to play at my community's tournament in December.

You'll notice that the base of the searchlight is taken from my tarantula sentry turret.

    Thoughts? Let me know!

You have a great personalized army. I like the different heads you picked for the special weapons. How has fielding 3 basilisk been? I only have one the moment but it does well. I usually run similar infantry to you, 3 regular squads hold back with 2 mounted in a chimera. Good thing you are getting some heavy armor, they are great!
