Zarika, I love the bases! Colors are solid, I really like the white bolters. (Boltguns? I don't play 40k, or 30k, or any "k" except Age of Sikmar...)

In other news, I got my Orcs done!

Pics of the other half (archers with re-positioned bows) on my blog now! Comments and crits appreciated.

I plan on re-doing all the bases as clear acrylic, but due to budgetary concerns that won't be for a while. I love this challenge, I'm cranking through minis like I never have before, already!

Cheers, it's just some cork glued and painted. Thinking of adding some pieces of razor wire to the bases, or cactus?

Love the Orcs, all individuals which is awesome! Seeing the models brings back good memories. Really lookong forward to seeing how it goes mate.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. Will see if I can do some more work done tomorrow!

@Zarika, the bases do look ace. Will be even better with some extra stuff on them.

@benvoliothefirst. Love the Classic Orcs. Well done!

Thanks lads! Apparently when I let my buddy borrow my WHQ set a few decades ago (!) he lost the Adventure Book, all the Skaven, and a bunch of the shields, so I had to do some improvisation from my bitz box. You'll see me get more creative with the goblins... I'm excited to show you all the progress there! Keep plugging away at it gents, we'll get our collections finished any day now, haha!

Re: Tale of Board Game Painters Sign Up Thread

Just one WIP shot as most of them are on mine and TRNG's plog over in the Random Projects Log.

We've decided to make bases for the models as we're only painting two models a month. Never done any work with greenstuff like this, so we each chose our own techniques and went to work!

What do people think? Any tips for working with greenstuff in future?

Looking good blackcherry. Got some interesting models on your log, looking forward to seeing them.

Only tip I have for greenstuff bases is I use water and keep my tools wet. I used a Stanley knife blade to make my stones for Mordheim. Not sure if that helps at all, don't really use greenstuff apart from bases.

Hey blackcherry! If it were me, because I'm super lazy, I'd be tempted to make one "master" mold/mould (depending on how 'Murican/European you are) of the stony base, and then do either a casting or just a press mold situation so you don't have to painstakingly recreate the stones every time. Looks great though to start!

Thanks for the good ideas guys. The keeping the knife wet is a good one, as I did find it harder to work the greenstuff as time went on. As for making a mould, that's something I could try next month. Will see if I have the bits for it at home already. Would certainly save some time!

Gonna get painting the models over the weekend with TRNG. Expect pics soon!

    Hello fellas.
Am I too late to join in with this.?
I want to get a Heroquest set painted and these sort of things help me out. (It was why I started the original 'Tale of ... painters' threads .... purely selfish reasons. )

    All the best,
    Harry

@D Slave. Found this thread looking for you ... I have something for you .... for those crabs you gave me.

Ooooh I'm intrigued. Regarding the crabs, the doctor told me they had cleared up, oh hang on, you mean the miniature ones...

Just thought that since everyone else is posting WIP pics, I'd better do the same. These are two test painted models for my WHQ critters, Giant Centipedes and Fire Beetles. I've done most of the Centipedes (9 out of 12) and I'm hoping to get 12 Fire Beetles done this month as well as finishing off an Assassin Adventurer.

Oh snap! The man, the myth, the legend is back! Great to see the OG ("Original Greenstuffer") in the thread, Harry! I think I speak for many here when I say that your prolific and inspiring presence on the boards is a big part of why we're here.

Having said that, the expectations of productivity have just gone up! DS, I think your critters both look great. I got my WHQ gobbos started and on a lark I decided to start on the snotlings too... You and I will have to share tips on how to not get bored painting a dozen tiny blobs, haha.

Wow ... what a nice thing to say. I'm sure that's not true ... but it is very nice of you to say ... and it is great to be back ... amongst such fine friends.

    @Daemonslave
Love that centipede. Great job. Actually made it look juicy.
    Is that an Otherworld mini?

I have just painted upsom Reaper fire beatles ... I shall try and sort out some picures tomorrow.

Also ... drop me a PM with your address so I can send you some of the bits I have been collecting.

Thanks, and yes it's from Otherworld. One of the, if not the, best place for creepy crawly miniatures out there.

Thanks, and regarding Harry's avatar, I always though it was Mince Beef and Onion!

Also, you are certainly powering through those Marines, at this rate you'll be finished by the end of next month!
