that chariot is beyond moronic and stupid. no thanks.

Just to be clear.. the chariot is fully based on the movie design. Eventually only shown in the extended edition IIRC, but can't fault GW/FW for it!

To be fair, it was a dumb design, if fun. :P But more C.S. Lewis Than J.R.R. Tolkein.

I mean that Thrandruil is better value. The deathroller is small by comparison.

That's my problem. FW did a great job of making a miniature based on the the absurd chariot from the movie. The concept of a giant two story chariot armed with a gattling crossbow sound like something that belongs in Warhammer Fantasy, not Middle Earth.

Those of you who like it, that's great. I just won't be buying one or using it in the game.

Thrandruil is more kid friendly? He is made of resin TBF, is the Death Roller Metal? Cost pewter was going up 300% last I checked in with Perry.

Honestly no idea what a death roller is,. no idea it was FW

Having looked at it, the deathroller needs atleast 3 moulds, thudrail needs 1.

Can certainly agree on the design choices for the Hobbit movies - where the LotR trilogy mainly aimed to create a realistic fantasy world, things were rather more unhinged in the subsequent one. Preferring my Dwarves with solid ground under their feet, I have no intention of purchasing Dain on boar, goat riders nor indeed the chariot (although I can appreciate them for the sculpting quality, which is phenomenal - fell in love with Dain when I first saw the actual miniature; just wished they sold the foot version seperately!). Was on the fence about stag-mounted Thranduil too, but it's a great centrepiece and just looks so much better than the finecast horse riding version. And none are as bad as the bunny-drawn chariot of Radagast! All that said, I'm mainly looking forward to upcoming releases like the Lake-town characters and, at some point, new LotR-era figures.

Honestly, not all that unhinged, there's deffo a BIG, sparkly tint, but what is there is sensible, dain on a boar? Goat riders, I'm right on with that, chariot too, we'd rider goats if they were as big as a horse! Plus I bet Dwarves are more subborn than goats!

Chariot with cross bow isn't silly, romans had it.

BGunny slead is silly,, radgast is silly, it fits.

Some new event/Warhammer World exclusives have just been announced, and a quite a surprise they are: the alternative resin Thorin's Company that has been gracing the pages of the Unexpected Journey rulebook for years, leading to numerous questions as to if they would ever see the light of day. Don't think anybody was expecting it anymore, but there they are!

(Not actually too fussed about them myself, but many collectors will be very happy indeed.)

The rather typical Troll Brute has stumbled his way off the sculptor's desk and is also up for release at Warhammer Fest. Controlled (one would hope) by either the Gundabad Orc on top, or hijacked by Bofur as per the movie.

A more unexpected release as well, in the form of a new Gwaihir, complete with scenic base.

I like the Gwahir miniature. Looks really exciting. The blind troll on the other hand is a well executed example of one of the many stupid choices Jackson made in The Hobbit.

Re: All the latest from Middle-earth (Hobbit/LotR SBG)

    Certainly!

Forgot to mention: the plastic Thorin's Company and Goblin Town heroes from the starter set are available seperately now - likely a sign the set will go out of print soonish (to be replaced by a new one? Who knows, no new plastics were to be released mind you, but still...)

EDIT: And more, from Harfoot over at the One Ring forums:
"New Generals pack with markers and army lists sheets (to plan your own list) out in next 2 months
Nazgul in planning stage, not sure of they will be static or jumping atround like in the film
Dwarf Heros for the Chariot will be released, maybe in a upgrade pack, but the chariot is different as it has a cow catcher on the front
Battle Companies with 80 pages, not 64 coming soon
GW very pleased how Middle earth is selling, its a long licence which will be renewed.
"there and back again" sells are very high, on its third reprint
No more plastics, only forge world resin
Gwaihir was sculpted a few years ago by Aly Morrison, who upgraded the base this year. they have more sculpts stashed away!
The Dwarf cross bow men are nicknamed "boar-listas" as the cross bow has a boars head at the front!"
