Kodsticklerburg: A Mordheim Project (WARNING: Some photos are HUUUGE!)

This past October I decided to get serious about a Mordheim project. The group I used to play 40k has scattered to the 4 winds. There are still a couple of us around but we only reconnect about 2 or 3 times a year and nobody really feels like dedicating a large amount of time to 40K. I am really the only one still pursuing war gaming. I figured if I built a table, and painted up 4 or 5 warbands (keep model count to 9-12 models ) we could play Mordheim when we could all get together.

I was hoping to be done the terrain by Christmas... ... really, how hard could it be?

No where near done... about 2/3 the way through. Half the buildings and most of the scatter terrain. Here are a few in order of completion.
Walls are cut from MDF with balsa wood trim and bits from the Mordheim building sprue:

This one is also built from MDF, balsa wood and all the small windows from the Mordheim building sprues. The barrel is by Thomarillion, shingles are paper shingles from Warbases and the stone is patterned sheet from Plastruct:

More to come over the next few days.

    Thank you ModernKiwi.

The third building. The basis for this model is an MDF kit from Warbases VCBW range: Ruined Red Brick Terrace. A little balsa wood, drywall mud and Sculptamold later...

I like how materials from many sources come together here. The buildings look great!

Ooh, lovely! I do like seeing people's Mordheims. I started to build some buildings years ago and didn't get very far.

Very nice! I like small modifications like the plaster, adds plenty of character. Of course, I went the easy route for my Frostgrave and used pre-painted 4grounds ruined buildings

Thank you fellas. I have a couple more little pieces done but then there will be a long break as I am preoccupied with 1/1 scale project.

Congratulations on the 1:1 scale project.

Nice progress on your other scale projects. Time to switch to water based salvia friendly colours.

Really good stuff and I do like some of your interior colours. The green walls are great.

    Re: Kodsticklerburg: A Mordheim Project

    Thanks guys.

The 1/1 scale project is actually a condo reno for my daughter while she is at university. Not a life-size suit of nob mega-armour; sorry to disappoint.

I have been off terrain for the last month as I have been painting up a starting Skaven warband. I have more buildings started that I would like to finish before I start on the next warband (Dwarves), but we will see....

    Re: Kodsticklerburg: A Mordheim Project

Here are three pieces I had more or less finished threee months ago but I just put the finishing touches on them this weekend.

The statue is from the LoTR ruins set; the altar is an MDF altar from Warlord and the cut stone base is made from styrofoam.

This Well is from Stonghold Terrain. Flock is my usual collection of Woodland Scenics and Warworld:

This tree is made from sculpey and grey stuff over awooden dowel/ twisted wire armature. The stone retaining wall is from Thomarillion. Flock as per usual.

    CS,

I have some really good WH buildings that I accrued many years ago. They include houses , Bugmans Tavern, a water mill, grain store and blacksmith shop. Also, a very nice card river and bridge. If your interested I can send pictures. Not all buildings need to be destroyed and they need a good home.

    Re: Kodsticklerburg: A Mordheim Project

I finished up another building; this time one of Warlord's ruined houses for Bolt Action. A very inexpensive kit, it certainly doesn't go together as smoothly as the GW kits: fit and finish is quite rough and it is small. I have two more waiting in the wings and I think I will build them together as one building.
