    Nice dwarves.

    Not so keen on the corners of the last building, the walls of the set look very interesting and well finished by you. What were the problems with the fitting?

    The broken branch is a great touch. The well is looking awesome (I like the gear on this one), great finishing and flocking. The altar has an amazing amount of detail for MDF, good choice to mount that statue on.

    Thank you for the compliments. The way the corner pieces match up to the ruined walls is one of the issues. I suppose I could have clipped off the excess or made more stones out of putty; I will keep that in mind for next time. The rafter section does not fit perfectly into the recesses on the top of the wall which means the glue is expected to do a lot. I ended up putty-ing in and around the join to get a solid connection. The same can be said for the second floor although there are enough spots on two sides it is secure.

    Finished the other half of the Sarissa Precision building and added some moss on the corner stones as well as some staining and a few boulders to the Warlord building. As you can see there is a real size discrepancy between the two kits:




    A bit of moss on the shingles...

    Hard to see but some detail added to the Warlord building...

    I don't think the size discrepancy is too noticeable. Makes for some varying level heights in game anyway!

    And I really like the moss on the shingles, brings the kit to life.

    Yes I think the scale works as well and don't forget no city is all the the same.

    Thank you fellas.

    I have put together the rest of the Bolt Action buildings. I spent quite a bit of time cutting flagstones - I don't think I will do that again.... Here are a couple of WIP shots:



    The grey areas will be filled with bits of debris. I actually intended for the flagstones to only cover a small portion of the floor but I got carried away.

    I also really like the moss; it seems an odd thing to compliment but whenever I try adding a little plantlife to buildings it doesn't look right. Do you have a technique or is this just instinct?

    Another vote in favour of mismatched buildings. That city was a chaotic mess even pre the wyrdstone comet.

    This project was my first shot at moss; just an experiment that turned out right (really, it's a little too green- should probably be more brown for roof moss but is fine for trees and rocks). It is just Woodland Scenics yellow turf with a layer of H2O/white glue over top then a green ink. There is a little bit of moss on the corner stones of the first Bolt action building; it is just Woodland Scenics Burnt Fine Turf (or something like that).A little more realistic but it doesn't stand out as nice.

    I am pretty close to having a enough buildings to fill a 4x4 table. Here the buildings are on a section of a large play table I made for my kids when they were little; it also did double duty for games of 40K (WIP guild house in blue foam and foamcore- who else but the merchants' guild could afford such a large building):

    A WIP of the Merchants Guild Hall (not sure what else to call it...). The bottom floor:

    The blue foam and metal windows are from Firedragon Games. Not having to scribe the stone work is a huge time saver.

    With the top two floors added:


    Floor boards and trim getting glued on now.

    Seriously, great work all around! Very inspirational. Little details and kitbashes you've done make all the difference... particularly the "broken/fallen branch" on the tree. That's a great bit of creativity there.

    I can't help but feel like said tree needs a few more branches on top, looks a bit sparse now even for a sick/dying tree. But I know it's never any fun to go back to a finished project to fiddle with it... maybe just something to keep in mind for future trees.

    Regardless, can't wait to see more!
