The Dwarves will fit really well with both Hasslefree's ones and the Vendel ones (now produced by Sgt Major Miniatures). Lovely stuff.

The Dwarves will finally be up for pre-order tomorrow! In addition, North Star released a picture of their rather lovely metal characters:

The Pre-order army deal looks like good value: 100GBP for 150 plastic dwarves and 6 metal characters (the ones pictured above I imagine).

Seven metals in fact, you also get the pre-order exclusive guy with a hammer. Indeed, for the pre-order period the following looks pretty tasty (one box being quite enough for my needs): http://northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=11127

Hadn't planned to get them any time soon (you know, other projects), but a free figure and a discount make saying no a bit more difficult, not to mention the fact that they really just look exactly as I want my Dwarves to.

I agree. I feel the same way about their goblins.

Got my pre-order in, though I'm just picking up a single box until I know more about how the army lists will work, or how armies will look like...

First Elf finally showed up, both painted and unpainted (with another great goblin in the second pic as well):

Initially I was a bit 'no' about the elf but he's quickly growing on me. I think its the same as was with the dwarf, I'm so used to seeing GW/ Confrontation style that he looked odd in comparison.

I think for me the real test will be how the elf looks compared to a human and if they look distinct enough and if their physical traits come through.

But yeah, overall I like him and I think the three minis stand up well against each other.

The only thing I don't like about the elf is the boring disc on the front of the armour- unimaginative and pointless. The huge sword is a little meh as well.

BTW, comparison pictures of the Oathmark dwarves with GW LoTR dwarves here. So it looks like my idea of using them in LoTR games is out the window...

    I like the elf model.

But I'd prefer to do a head swap and use him as a dark age human I think.

Why is the disc boring & pointless? REminds me of a pectorale that Romans, native Italians & others used in ancient times, or the alleged mail doubling in the early High MA the Normans were thought by some to use...

    I also like the elf.

Yeah, but they weren't elves . If they are going to do that, show a little elven craftmanship; something like this guys:

I actually liked the Dwarves and Goblins specifically because they didn't look like GW. I think in anything *except* WFB or AoS GW "style" just looks wrong and out of place. Nit knocking GW figures, they do some amazing miniatures. They have a very distinctive (IMO) style however, so whenever I see them all I can think is GW.

Getting back to the elf... I'm just not feeling him. It's a decent sculpt but it's not wowing me like the dwarfs and goblins did.

Goblinoids up for pre-order until December the 6th: http://www.northstarfigures.com/list...cat=366&page=1
As expected, that excellent figure posted above in the elf/dwarf/goblin comparison picture was a metal prototype, available for the pre-order period only.
Also available are the other metal figures; worth pointing out (didn't realise this with the dwarves) that the figures are only available seperately during the pre-order, afterwards they will only be sold in the packs of three (cheaper if you want all, but if you are only interested in 1 or 2 this is the one moment to get them on their own): http://www.northstarfigures.com/list...cat=311&page=1
