Astreaus Super Heavy Tank for Primaris Marines

GW have released a super heavy tank for space marines finally. And it is a primaris tank with a heavy amount of guns and respulsor.

Clearly we are going to see a lot of variants along the sicaran lines as the turret looks interchangable. Similarly, as it is Primaris marines I expect that it will be points wise expensive with no weaknesses.

This what happens when you let a Repulsor, a Sicaran, and a Mastodon have a baby together.

I actually quite like the style, it's just too big.

It looks like it belongs in Tiberium Wars or the like, rather than the 41st millennium.

    Bizarre design.

Its a thunderhawk that rearended and split a land raider in two, while somehow becoming pregnant.

Better design than the Rhino route. The Imperium in 40k is finally getting the tanks it deserves, what with this one, the Sicaran, the new Nurgle tank and the FW DKoK and Ad Mech tanks.

The dark future should be more than metal boxes. Thumbs up to GW.

To me it looks like someone in the design team watches to much Star Wars...
And that is where I think the rounded gun turrets etc in the front part of it should stay.

It really does. Without the eagle and the heavy bolters, I wouldn't have guessed it was Warhammer related

Not sure what the skis angled on the front do at all.

Those are part of the anti-grav plating, which is the main problem I have with the design. Can’t stand the imperium having anti grav tanks.

I don't necessarily mind Imperial anti-grav tech, but it is a little odd that the Repulsor/Astreaus system looks so different to previous tech (Land Speeders, hover Rhinos etc.).

Huh, really? I realized the tabs on the side where supposed to be anti grav, but the front bits look more like landing gear (and oddly like tau landing gear)

It's a weird direction to be generating force in any case- the general effect would be to slow the tank down

Re: Astreaus Super Heavy Tank for Primaris Marines

Unless they really are skis so that if the grav-tank dips into terrain, it's not going to catch and flip it end-over-end. I'm assuming here that the anti-grav isn't absolutely perfect & that things like hills & the like might cause the hull to nose in, so a simple fix is skids to reorient the nose physically...

Edit: another possibility is that it is an anti-grav "bumper" for the same reasons I described above. pretty sure GW never described how anti-grav works in a pseudo-scientific SFinal way. So if it is like a "repulsor" field, you emit a weaker one to the front to prevent the nose again from digging into sudden terrain changes and flipping the vehicle over...

    Damon.
