Re: November 2017 White Dwarf Feedback Thread

So looking at the preview of this issue, 'Cover Feature: Starting a Gang War':

'It all began when we heard about the Sector Mechanicus scenery being designed by the Hobby Productions team. At the time they only had drawings to show me, but even at that early stage they had ‘Necromunda’ written all over them. Terrain was the only thing holding us back from developing Necromunda – a 3D battlefield was such a crucial component of the original game – and this new scenery range made it possible. The only problem was fitting enough of it in a box to make a good battlefield – it really just wasn’t possible. And that’s what led to the development of the Necromunda Underhive board game, giving you two ways to play the same game. You can either fight in the tunnels of the underhive, using the tiles presented in the box, or play the full 3D experience if you have the scenery available. It’s worth noting though, that Necromunda Underhive isn’t a dumbed down version of the game – it’s not a board game version of Necromunda – we’ve just expanded the definition of what the game is and created a new, easy-access playing style for it.'

So... they couldn't make new Necromunda because they didn't have the necessary terrain*. Then they got the necessary terrain, so they made new Necromunda as a 2D board game. Wha..?
*The original Necromunda box set managed to contain a whole bunch of terrain. Funny that...

They also describe, 'the Necromunda Underhive board game', and then literally two sentences later say, 'it's not a board game version of Necromunda'. Despite it being a version of Necromunda played on a board.

I also find the claim that you are given 'two ways to play the same game' somewhat disingenuous, given that to 'play the full experience' you'll need the additional day 1 DLC.

I don't care what they call it or that you need to buy two products to get a complete game. I'm just so stoked that Necromunda is back and with my personal two favorite gangs in the box!
