Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

So I thought I would start a log for my painting. I have a load of model heavy kickstarters coming and several other smaller projects on the go through out this year.

Currantly im working on my german force for Konflikt 47 which will be the starting point for now.

But the log will eventually also feature(amongst others):
    Dark souls wave 2
    Deep madness
    Streets of Arkham (MoM expansion)
Street masters: rise of the kingdom
    Shadespire

But as I said Konflikt 47 is where we will be starting. I already have an american force (1,000pts plus a few extra units to mix it up)

But now im making a german force so I can get a few games going.

So the starting point was to grab a german starting army (this gave me most of my army along with a few extra units - namely a medic, an extra commander, a radio team, an armoured car and about 10 additional men).

And after an afternoon my force looks like this:

I also used a couple of the spare troops to make a sniper team.

The only things I will need to purchase will be a panzershreck team, 4 Shreckwulfen and a panzermech.

Until then, let the painting commence...

Pretty much got the 1st lieutenant and his cronies completed. I will be doing the bases for tge whole army once everything is done.

The images are alittle dark due to poor light levels so I had to use my desk lamp which isn't the best light source. Also they appear shiny but only because the last wash wasn't completely dry.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

    Todays update. Finished the squad.
Painted the sniper team, radio team and the other officer you get in the HQ blister (none of these will be in my 1,000pt list but I'm painting them so I have a few options to mix things up).

So heres a group shot of everything (minus the sniperteam, radio team and officer).

    The aforementioned other units.

Left to right; sniper team, radio team, officer.

Just one ten man squad to go and thats everything konflkt wise for now. I still have a few units to get but will have to wait for my next payday to get these.

Next up will be the Mansions of madness: Streets of Arkham expansion.

    Until next time.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

    Time for the next update.

I have finished (for now at least) all the units I have currantly for my german force.

Here is a group shot of evetything so far:

The rest of the force will be purchased next month and will consist of shreckwulfen, a Panzermech and a Panzershreck team.

So now as previously posted will be mansions of Madness.

So far I have only undercoated the miniatures.

    from left to right.
    Back: Lloiger, 2 star vampires.
    Middle: hired guns, Skeletons.
    Front: Finn, Tommy, Diana, Marie

Currantly I have all the models and expansions availiable for the game (with exception for Sanctum of Twilight which was only released last week).

A couple group pictures of the rest of these models:

the big guys, scenario specfic characters and the games huge roster of player characters.

The large selection of monsters, nightmares and deep things that the game may choose to send after you.

With another long day at work tomorrow It will probably be the weekend before the next update.

    until next time.

    Finished the Lloiger.

As for whats next, I was hoping that Street masters would be in my hands but I'm still awaiting it. (According to the latest KS update I should be getting a postage notification any day).

So looking over my to do list I have either have silvertower which was bought for me at christmas but just didn't finish painting for one reason or another.

My other choice is Space Crusade which I just never painted... ever.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

    Another update.

I have decided to go with this as the next little project:

So models, there are a few and all quite varied.

Space marine wise there are 3 squads (blood angels, Imperial fists and ultramarines)

Each squad is customised before each mission. You can arm each with bolters or select from a few heavy weapons (assaultcannon, plasma cannon or missle launcher).

The sargent is also customisable too with the choice of heavy bolter, powerfist and powersword or bolt pistol and power axe. This allows you to choose shooty, combat or a mixture of both.

Each chapter plays alittle differently via their unique equipment cards.
    Blood angels focus on combat.
    Imperial fists focus on shooting.
Ultramarines are a balance of both.

Sargents, each with the three different options

examples of ultramarines with each of the different loadouts: missle, assault cannon, plasma cannon and boltgun

    As for enemies.

    Starting off:
The Space Orks (8 in total)

    Gretchin (13 in total)

Chaos Space Marines (5 in total, one with missle launcher and a Captain with heavy bolter)

    genestealers (3 in total)

Androids (necrons but not really) (4 in total)

The Dreadnought (along with all the weapon options, again the alien player chooses the loadout).

    Until next time.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

With doing a night shift last night I haven't made much progress.

I decided to start with the imperial fists (mostly due to disliking painting yellow, so I thought I would get these ones done first).

They are coming out ok, though the warm temperture and using older paints has resulted in a rougher finish than I would have liked.

A few progress shots just after finishing the yellow.

And the three i have done today. I'm at the momment rummaging through my stuff looking for some old space marine transfer sheets for the shoulders as my freehand skill is limited.

I want to keep the classic colourful look of old but still have an element of grim and grittyness of the new. The basing will be kept simple.

    Thats it for now

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

Progress has been a little slow, due to two things:

The yellow. I wasn't happy with how dark it had become, especially with the final wash. So I went back a brightened it up a little.

And secondly, disaster struck! Whilst removing one of the weapon options from the sergeant the peg snapped.

Whilst annoying there is an easy enough solution... magnets. I have been playing with the idea of this for a while and now I guess I will have to give it a go. The magnets are ordered and should arrive next week.

The only other progress made is the brightening of the yellow on the remaining marine and sergeant, as well as making a start on the guns.

    That's all for now

Finally had time to work on the marines.

The Imperial fists are about there. Just need to paint the sargent weapon options.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

    Quick update.

Have been busy with work so no progress as such.

But I have got plenty through the post.

-magnets have arrived so I can start magnetising the space marines.

    - I have received my parcel from Warlord games which apart from containing order dice and pin markers also had 2 blisters of Schreckwulfen for my german force.

    - lastly street masters finally arrived, and I had truly forgot how much of that I ordered so no shortage of things to paint.

    All for now

Nice work so far painting yellow has always been a pain. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Re: Despoiler's log of a little bit of everything

@Bluewolf74727. Thanks, yellow and flesh has always been my bane. Im actually suprised how well the Fists came out.

Speaking of which, after an afternoon of work the imperial fists are now magnetised and apart from the transfers (of which I'm waiting to arrive) are done. The bases I may just coat with sand and colour grey but i'm not sure just yet.

The magnets work perfectly. Heres a couple of examples:

As you can see from the first picture I have also constructed the 6 Schreckwulfen (im only using 4 in my 1,000pt army but they only come in blisters of 3).

So next up will be the 8 space orks. Currantly the skin is 80% done with just a few highlights/washes to go.

    Thats all for now.

I think you have to admire the simplicity of the 80s and where we went from there. Lovely work all around on the board games and your German force.

    Very nice plog!

Also, now you've gone and reminded me of Space Crusade I had a brief urge to go on ebay to find me one as well. Until I realised, I already did so a couple of years ago. Only I have'nt started on mine yet.

So, i'm really looking forward to your take on these classic models!
