    a silly silly mistake

ok got my grimey little hands on the new WD only to discover something rather silly.

look on page 95 of the Uk edition and you will see two guys playing with the new warhammer box set (which is of course is "the battle of skull pass" for those who have been sleeping -in which case wake up and praise the return of spider riders). which isn't all that silly except for the fact they are using the quick play 40k rule leaflet thing from the "defence of Macragge".

honestly you can't leave them for one minute .....

    well there goes the neighborhood
"How delightful are the pleasures of the imagination! In those delectable moments, the whole world is ours; not a single creature resists us, we devastate the world, we repopulate it with new objects which, in turn, we immolate. The means to every crime is ours, and we employ them all, we multiply the horror a hundredfold."

Considering BatReps are generally played three times to work the kinks out.... These errors are just sloppy work from people who aren't motivated to do their best. GW is suffering from a dearth of competant management.
If you love a Redhead, set Her free...if She follows you everywhere, pitches a tent in your front lawn and your new girlfriend disappears, you belong to Her, get used to it .

    Now there's an understatement...

IMHO WD has been going downhill ever since 'Fat Bloke' left...

I don't know if the WD slide has been going on that long, I like the new battle reports the nice clear shots of what comes on new sprues and Jervis' column for example.

It's just the cheap shortcuts taken and the lack of 'meat'.

Shortcut examples would be showing an army and they copy/paste the same painted unit in two or three places. (start of battle reports or the 'this is my army you've seen a dozen times before' articles about arming for Medusa V)

By meat I mean we used to get chapter approved with new units (Deathwatch, Imperial Guard High Command), doctrines (abhumans, xeno mounts) and variant army lists (White Scars, Blood Pact) or ways to play (Rules of Engagement, Kill Team) every month.

Fantasy used to get the same level of attention as 40K, with campaign ideas, border patrol and variant army lists like the awesome Zombie Pirates.

Also at least two new scenarios for Lord of the Rings and updated/new rules for characters or units.

Even recently returned features like the letters page was gone last month, as was the what are WD crew up to page. (I can guess one guy painted a guardsman and another painted yet more chaos marines)

There is a notice that White Dwarf is hiring at the moment, hopefully this is just a temporary lull and things will get back on track in the next few months.

They seem to be really really fond of that pic....

In the Japanese GW Battle for Maccrage site they just photoshoped the faces of some Japanese guys onto them!

I hope you aren't holding your breath.

In my experience GW hiring is a sign that either someone capable has moved on or someone incapable has sacked someone to hide a lack of capability. Of course, that's just me.

Why can't I live in hope?

WD has gone both up and down in quality over the years, they fact they are doing 'something' should tell us that they realise things are currently not good.

Hopefully worthwhile people will get the jobs and WD can get back to including 'meat' as well as the side salad.

That or they can relaunch something like the Journal as a 'rules' mag and keep WD as a glossy £4 a month full colour painting guide and catalogue. (thus saving me £4 a month I can spend on the Journal)
