    Saurus Cavalry

After recieving my first Lizardmen Battalion Box I started to paint and assemble the lot. I recently got the bright idea to share some of my work for those trying to figure out what to do with their Lizardmen. Note that I make no claim beyond being a mediocre painter and everyone should feel free, indeed encouraged, to try their own ways and paints. I'll try to outline the colours and technics I've used, any who feel like helping with hints and suggestions please go ahead.

Currently I'm painting the Saurus Cavalry, all 8 of them. I decided to prime them in black(both riders and steeds) and paint the riders on the sprues. At least the undercoat and the first layers of highlight. I think I'm going to make the Cold ones green with bright red Saurus on top.

First order of buisness so far: primer. Chaos black on a can, basic stuff. Once that had dried it's time for the first layer of paint: thinned Red Gore, making it into a very dark brownish base colour. Next a quick layer of Blood red, going to need a couple of swabs of this once before it's finished.

The Cold Ones are primed black, with Dark Angels Green on top and Snot Green for highlights. Not quite there yet even though I've done one testcase, albeit a bit sloppy.

    Pictures so far:

Final 2 pics taken sofar on highlight:

I've still to decide on how the spikes on the back should look like: dark red going to bright red or perhaps some orange tones? Maybe something else completly like Chaos Black, Midnight Blue and a drop of Bleached Bone?

Nice colour scheme scheme, I'll be interested to seeing how it turns out.

Not too sure about the spines, it might be an idea to leave them until the rest of the model is done and see what needs balancing.
