DJ's Ogre Kingdoms

Alright, yesterday I went out and picked up the first unit(s) for my Ogre army: 1 box of 6 Bulls. Hopefully I will get enough money from my new job to be able to complete the army within a month or two, but don't hold me to it. I only have acess to a webcam, as such the pictures will be pretty crappy, but I'm gonna do it anyways.

First up is one I did of a WIP Deathwing Chaplain, has nothing to do with the project, i'm just going to see if this works, then get some pics of the Ogres if it does.

Once again, sorry for the craptacular pictures, but as I have no digital camera, this is the only way I can do this.

Ok, so that worked. Lets get this log underway then. I assembled the Ogres yesterday, no real conversions yet, just getting a feel to the kit. I sprayed and started them today, hopefully will be done within a few days.

Well the Chaplain worked...more or less. I will see if I can convince my freind with a digital camera to let me use it. hopefully I can do that by the time I get these boys finished.

Here's a very slightly better pic of one of them, keep in mind these are only just started, I havent gotten around to doing anything more than painting the pant and metal bits. These pics are just here so there is some indication of progress.

I have had some experience of being in you're situation and it does have a blog killing effect.

I'd advise you to do the following as a bare minimum for your pictures - use a white background sheet for photographing your minitures (a piece of paper proped up will do) and use a daylight bulb. It really helps trust me.

Other then that from what I can see its all looking good so far keep it up

(keep persevering with this. People with bad pictures dont tend to get loads of comments and end up giving up)

Alright, I managed to get ahold of a camera and took some decent pictures. They do look tons better than the webcam ones. I don't have time to post them right away (got to go to work), but when I get back I'l get them up as soon as I can.

Alright, here are some decent pictures I took of them as they stand right now. I got a bit more work done on them, got the Skin all base coated and tidied some other stuff up, i'l start highlighting them either tonight or tommorow.

Got a bit more work done on the Squad, all of them have first highlights now and half of them have a second layer done on their skin, and worked a bit on the metal bits. I plan on finishing up with another layer plus some cleaning up on the skin and highlighting the pants and brown parts over the next couple of days. I hope I diden't scare everyone away with the other pics, come on and give me some encouragement people!

your metals are a little thick....try doing the metals first....use thin paints, and keep working hard...good effort so far!

The metal in those pictures are actully just Tin Bitz drybrushed with Boltgun Metal. I've actually changed my mind and they have been painted to look very rusted, with only a bit of metal showing at the edges. I've also purchased a box of Leadbelchers for the army, which are still in the assembly stage. I will try and get my hand on a digital camera again and take some more up to date pictures.

Great stuff. Btw, what are you using for the skin? It looks pretty good, I know lot of people get really complicated with ogre skin.

The mix I actually got in a WD (I think it was American issue 301), it's really just various mixes of graveyard earth, shadow grey, kommando khaki and bleached bone (I mixed them in big batches to simplify and speed things up) I can give you the exact amounts in the mixes if you want.

BTW, these guys are almost done (honest! I got a bit distracted in my painting by BFSP) I'l try and finish them and get some final pics up soon.
