I (naturally) couldn't resist the gorgeous new Eldar Rangers, so I just had to add some of them to my Alaitoc army. In my humble opinion, these are some of the best mini's yet from GW.
Comments are always welcome!

these are really lovely. i like the last one with the pony-tail best of all, you've painted the eye in so detailed. the colours are nice and smooth and the camo pattern is like the kasrkin, but more delicate.
i'm working towards this standard of painting myself but as yet am not quite there.
i really like them, you have done some already great models justice.
Thanks for the comments! I "borrowed" the camo scheme from the Saim-Hann Rangers on the Eldar Rangers box...![]()
Here's the last one of my Rangers:
![]()
Nah they're crap. Throw them away and never use them.![]()
Ok seriously they look good. As said before, great job on the eyes and camo.
As we sin, so do we suffer.
I don't like the guns. The bleached bone you used was too thick, so you got a very rough surface. If you paint such light colors over a black undercoat, paint a layer of Codex grey over it and only then a bit watered-down finish (multiple layers of it, of course).
The rest is OK, solid tabletop quality.
Regarding the guns: The models were undercoated with skull white. I painted the guns vomit brown and then drybrushed them with bleached bone. Perhaps the paint was a bit thick...but I don't like to sit and paint endless amounts of layers...(yes, I'm lazy)![]()
I guess Mr. Evil is afraid of soon being on the receiving end of these Rangers long rifles![]()
nice smooth paint job as always covering fire
keep it up
looks good, but the gems on the guns arent painted, do you plan on painting them?
Whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time, in the worst possible way
Solid TT models.
Very nice, you've got a steady hand there amigo.
Rangers DO lead the way!
You are unique, just like everybody else.
-from some T-shirt slogan I saw.
sorry, but the bases do the minis no justice. i admire you for being different in your basing techniques, but i just dont think green bases suit such dark models...
apart form that, lovely! youve got a very steady hand, you should try some imperial stuff wiht loads of writing![]()
I like these alot. I there is alot to be said for a good TT standard. The painting is clear and crisp and the colour nice and bold.
I think you probably still use these guys in 5-10 years time but you will improve your painting further during that time too. So some advice...
Some parts look a little grainy. The paint has been to thick/dry when you applied it in some places. So you will have to practise watering the paint down a bit. Each paint is different though so it takes time.
Also the highlighting is too faint (the skin or the rifle). You could practise on these models with some thinned down black ink over the scorched brown gloves. To see how it brings out the definition on these models. It will give you an idea of how strong the highlighting should be without it looking cartoony.
Paint the eyes black with two white spots. It looks ten times better and to be honest easier to get a good effect.
With static grass *ahem* it looks better in smaller amounts rather than carpeted on the base.
Why are the Swedish so good at painting blue and yellow? (Looks up his flag book) lol
They are very nice, solid colours there, and I like the camo pattern.
One question are the new rangers metal or plastic? Because for some reason I thought they were plastic, but they look like one-peice metal models in those pics.
"If your not living life on the edge, then your taking up too much space!"
metal. inn the back of the WD from when they where released, it shows metal parts.
They look very nice Covering fire. The yellow areas look nice and smooth. I also like the camouflage scheme on their cloaks too.

What has he got a tea cosy on his head for?

Thanks for the reminder! I knew I had forgotten something. I usually paint the biggest of the gems on the guns of my Eldar. So...here's the new look:looks good, but the gems on the guns arent painted, do you plan on painting them?
Hehe, why do you think I settled for Craftworld Alaitoc? Why are the Swedish so good at painting blue and yellow? (Looks up his flag book) lol
Yes, yes, I know...but I started this army some time ago during a time when my basing skills were a bit...worse. And since I don't want to re-base 30+ Guardians and a load of Aspect Warriors I decided to stick with this design. It will have to do for now...With static grass *ahem* it looks better in smaller amounts rather than carpeted on the base.
Below: The next project is demanding my time (and blood probably!)
Anyways, thank you all for the comments!![]()
