Ice's 46th Cadian Army- The Long Road

This is my first WIP thread. I've been playing/ working on my IG army for just over a year now. Up till now I've amassed a farely decent sized army, but in IG standards it is merely a raiding force. My army consists of 1700 points (mostly infantry, Lasguns can be awesome) 3 tanks (2 russ', and a Chimera)
I hope you guys will post your comment and lend some support to a fellow Guardsmen!
P.S due to lack of a decent computer (i use the office computer) pictures will be in my Photobucket. In the next week i hope to get a new computer.
    anyway enjoy The Long Road

I look forward to the long road, I love Imperial Guard .

Only criticism: that leman russ is gonna get more weathering right? It could still be wip, so just don't listen to me if that's the case.

    I can't wait for more!

    -peace out

EDIT: OI! I recognize that gold shield! Good job Ice, keep the battlegroup alive!

both pictures of the tanks were taken BEFORE the MedusaV Campaign, so they weren't done yet. Anyway, more painting has been done:
Standard bearer almost done: touch ups required

Colonel Leif, 99.9% finished, just skin touch ups

The Leman Russ, with weathering (just for you scrubout)

as always CC are more then welcome!

pffft, more cadians. As a vostrayan collector, i look down upon you. Ahh well, as long as you dont steal our women or our Amesec (booze) i'd be happy to let you bolster the forces of the empire, and help the 22nd crush those snooty Tau into the ground...... gunbaby.

Come on, that's not very supportive is it?

But what what you say about Cadians is true, apart from the fact that he can outnumber you 2:1, has Chimeras and has a Russ. Not to mention having loads of big, bad friends (over 500 regiments from Cadia, you know). It's probably cheaper cash-wise, as well.

But I do agree, Vostroyan are easily some of the best IG I've ever seen.

    Good on you, both. (Equally)

Thank you, but you did put the gold shield on to represent your involvement with Battlegroup Imperators Aegis right? If not, that is strangely coincidental considering we chose a large gold shield to represent the warseer Imperial Guard battlegroup on Medusa V.

Looks good, keep it up! I just recently finished assembling and basing my commissar, pics are in order...I should really reopen my shameful project log. I'd be honored if you kept up to date with mine and helped support me once I open it.

How are you going to base them?

tut tut tut last chancer, you fail to see my advantage over cadia. You see, your standard vostrayan trooper bendfits from sharpshooter (rerolls 1s) +1 ws and a 4+ save., all for just 35 points per squad. I can field 2 for every 3 of his squads, and i gain an edge in combat that tips the balance in my favour. As for the tanks, why, i prefer sentinals. At a base cost of 35 points each i can field large squads rather than infantry. I also have a leman russ Now, your tau, are ws2. My guardsmen (4 points cheaper) are weapon skill 4. Can you tell the differnce? Lets count. 1,2. That wasnt very long lets try another shall we? 1,2,3,4. Thats better isnt it? Also, the intricasie of the vostrayan models is what drew me from the lure of cadia. It means i can work at a steady rate of 1 model every 2 hours, but its worth it in the end i guess.

P.S. thats been my name on a lot of things since before i collected warhammer, i cant quite remember where i picked it up though....

Ethereal, quit taking yourself so seriously; this is a project log not a place to argue over who looks better/plays better Vostroyans or Cadians.

I look forward to you answering my BGIA question Ice.

I was indeed involved in the Warseer campaign, i was SiC of the battlezone Tisiphone, but due to getting a new job i was unable to play as often as I'd have liked. and for Basing, it will be an Urban base.

Re: Ice's 46th Cadian Army- The Long Road

I'm getting a FW command sqaud to replace my GW one for tourny play, and when i want to show my friends up on the feild :P. I also figured I'd purchase a small order from FW to see the quality of the product and then decide if I want to order larger way more expensive things!
PS: The Danko Concert was amazing, i got to hang with Danko, J.C and Dan after the show, they signed my cd's for me

Re: Ice's 46th Cadian Army- The Long Road

Ice, both Deadley Headley and School Cormorant have the FW command squad as well... I would love to see how you would adapt these models...

Ethereal, I agree that you would be tougher to kill than most IG, but the weaponry/technology argument that would follow is avoidable, so I proceed to my next comment... No hard feelings?

Those of you that took part, or indeed that know about it, can you enlighten me as to what the Warseer campaign was all about? Thanks.

(P.S. I have a large IG army and have never taken "sharpshooters" as a doctrine, what is the appeal of re-rolling 1's, statistically this is almost not worth the points cost. One chance in six for each guardsman, two if rapid firing? For me, the number of shots is enough. Of course this statement depends of the configuration of our armies, mine is infantry-heavy, so I probably have less reason to take it...)

never ever under estimate the ability to roll 1's, last night i played 1,000 points and rolled probably about 30 1's in 2 turns, so it made it's points back, the other thing worth mentioning is, Hardened fighters. Command sqaud with HF has a weapons skill of 5, combined with Mastercrafted power weapns and a MC powerfist= deadly in assualt

Also for my Regiment I need a background, any suggestions would be awesome, right now my thoughts are to take this regiment towards urban war.
