Very nice work. Im especially liking the freehand imperial eagle (or is it brass icons? anyways the writings freehand) on the banner and the green stuff carapace.

The best convertions are those that look like they could be purchased like that and youve definatly acomplished that.

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

thanks a lot, though the eagle isn't freehand, it's from FW, the painting and conversions are the best I could come up with, certainly not the high standard some other members paint or convert but I'm satisfied.

on a side note, next update will be next week as I will not be home this weekend. I will try to finish the infantry squad as well as the medic, vox-caster and the tank turrets until then.

Really liking the mix of Necromunda models in there. It helps to bring character to the army (did I spot a few Cawdor?). Looks like things are coming along well, good job. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this.

I'm hoping to stay motivated to finish painting an army, or three.... (Update: 10/1/09!)

well, I was under the impression that there wasn't much interest, that and I got loads of other stuff to do the last (and coming for that matter) months, but I did finish painting some of the things mentioned and I will post pictures once I have taken them, expect them somewhere around the coming weekend

also I might have some teaser pictures of the material I'm gathering for my summer-project, which will be related to (more of an expansion actually) the 12th Adorian.

Ah... I really should look at the dates on things, shouldn't I . Oh well, glad it was resurrected (not by me!), those look great. Teaser pics please. Maybe this will be a successful 'revival thread'!

Great conversions, they add alot of character to what can be a somewhat bland Army (plastic cadians)

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

Hi there, I'm back, well back with updates, been lurking around warseer constantly, I'm participating in the tale of 40k painters, where I posted this months work some minutes ago: http://warseer.com/forums/showthread...=1#post2915532

I want to finish the army korps and hopefully continue to my next project: space wolves!

but for now I will post here some shots of what has been finished pre TO40KP:

HQ command squad and first infantry platoon:

and detail shot of the HQ

as well as the leman russ turrets:

and as promised a long time ago: teaser for the auxiliaries of the army korps aka. third infantry platoon

I will try to get weekly updates in here as possible from now on and once a month the update on the TO40KP.

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

Ok-Ay, although there hasn't been much feedback lately, I do have an update, kind of, I've been working on a heavy bolter team, took a wip shot of them before I started work today and have since gone over the metal details, especially of the weapons and equipment that are not shown in the pic,

there is much work still to do, highlight on the uniform, faces/eyes, black cover up work, and some details I've been sloppy about the last time, also the bases are primed, you can see them if you follow the link in my last post and scroll a little bit down, I did use a different method to make them then I used to, instead of cutting out individual cardboard tiles for the base, which resulted in them getting moved and thus full of pva while glueing, I carefully cut two parallel fine lines into a bigger piece of cardboard, the stripe in between could then be easily dislodged. I finally cut the exact base-sized pieces out of the big piece and voila!

Ok, now onto a workspace pic, you can see the heavy bolter guys lying around, paint drying at the moment

I use the table for real life stuff, like eating, learning etc. as well, which is why all the painting equipment needs to be removable in a minute or so, or else I get crazy! but while painting I do watch some dvds, theres nothing but a good war movie while painting imperials

Nice work I like the highlighting on the gray. That command squad is really nice and I can't wait to see the third platoon.

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

thx for the feedback, the redemptionist platoon won't however get painted this month, but I will start building them soon and will post wip pictures, I'm currently looking for heavy flamer parts or ways to convert them, because I will make them count as jungle-fighters, makes sense to me, less armour, more flamers, would anyone have a problem with that in a game?

I have a doctrine point to spare and I'm not going to use any of the other special rules, moving through terrain etc. because this is not very fluffy, torch carrying, red robed, screaming lunatics are not very stealthy I guess

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

I thought about that, but I would have had to equip every model with warrior weapons, choosing the jungle fighters docrine allows me only to upgrade the third platoon, the redemptionists, while the other infantry platoons have close order drill, since I also chose special weapon squads, priests and iron discipline I spent all 5 doctrine points, and the army is nicely split in two groups, the disciplined, close ranked army soldiers and the rioting, flamer and chainsaw wielding maniacs

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

sorry everybody, no real update this time, was on a conference for a week and scheduled the week after that for painting, unfortunately my computer decided this was a good time to cross the river styx, so I was very distracted with the whole buisness of getting a new one, retrieving data, installing software, configuring everything, etc. in order to get work going for university, so I had to play a joker this time in the To40kP, and will continue my painting soon, hopefully next week, depending on the amount of work I have in real life,

on the plus side, I did continue painting the heavy bolter team and started sorting through the bitz for my redemptionists, deciding some weapon options, I figured I'm gonna drop the jungel-fighter idea, mainly because I havn't got enough flamers to convert the extra heavy flamers, lets see if I can get some during the next two months or so

Re: "Damokles torment" - a long term, multi-army project log

I like the Medic's converted hypodermic thingy (technical term ). The FW parts really go a long way to making Cadians stand out from similar armies. Shame about the miscast parts though.

A suggestion for repairing straps is try using GW transfer sheets cut into narrow strips with a sharp craft knife. They are a comparable thickness to resin and plastic model straps; everybody has loads spare; easy to work with; and glues in place almost immediately with super glue.
