    Death Guard - 2000 points

    40K Army: Chaos
I haven't decided on playing Death Guard yet, but I love the idea of having diseased, tough infantry and the fluff is nice and gruesome. I just do not have much experience with them and am unsure of their use in tournament play. Rate this list please. All constructive criticism will be wonderful.

Re: Death Guard - 2000 points

the thing with death guard armies (and i have one) is theyre all so similar. its as though infiltrate is a prerequisite for them.

Ive trid a possessed unit like that in an all infiltrating army before and theyre close to useless. uless youve included them for modelling purposes, id get rid of them in favour of some infiltrating chosen or maybe some daemons, becasuse they really wont do much.

id also maybe loose a squad and give some combat weapons to the aspiring champions. With infiltrate and rapid firing those plasma guns, combats may be hard to avoid, and the daemon prince alone may not always be enough in combat. also, since the prince does not inflitrate, he'll need to deploy before most of the enemy army, making him an inviting target if not deployed correctly (this is of course assuming the marines will be infiltrating most of the time)

nurgle termies are also nice to see in a 2k army

Are Nurgle Termies really worth the points though? 7 Termies is a LOT of points, much more than the Possessed Marines. If I do take them, what should I take out along with it?

Armour upgrades on an IC are stupid (people are sending Power Weapon attacks your way, woot 20 pts on something bypassed!)

Take a power sword with daemonic strength.

All that plasma,.. tsk tsk, good for you Must face a lot of marines eh?

Sadly you're a 12" death zone and if people are shooting you long range you're hosed. Tau come to mind.

I like it only thing is drop the possessed and get a 3rd pred with the same config, and if you want to spice it up, you could take a few rhinos in there and a few infiltrating units, its up to you though. But def get a 3rd pred in there and drop the possessed.

The lord should have Terminator armor. It gives you an extra attack, the armor save you seem to want, and the same save as aura. For cheaper then armor and aura together. Give him Mutation instead of speed, no frag grenades. Also give him D. Strength, and Essence if you feel like it - T5, 4 wound characters are great. But Essence is not necessary, just fun. Deepstrike him, and he's good.
