Got me the eldar army deal today

Absolutely brilliant?

Anyway I am going to start a blog on building my new eldar army

A few questions though...and complaints...

In the army box I only got 8 guardians...even though it says 10.But how can you get 10 guys from 2 sprues of 4...split it in two?...2.5 of each sprue?

my autrach has a chainsword rather than a powersword

But I got one extra wave serpant weapons spre

From FW I also ordered a Void dragon phoenix and an avatar?

But the waiting list is three weeks long for th avatar?
So my VDP and Imperial Armour 06 should be here next week sometime.
I am planning on ulthwe, but I am disappointed that in the new codex, there are no craftworld specific rules...unlike there used to be in the old dex

Any help on wraithbone colours...I dont fancy straight layering?

Updates will be slow as I am at Uni, and have a lot of work to do

Any ideas for the colour scheme for the void dragon phoenix?

its ten guardians including the weapon crew, i beleive.

i used a method for wraithbone that was simple and fast - just paint straight bleached bone and 'layer' that with thin, even coats of brown ink, painting less and less with each layer, creating darker tones in the detail, leaving the pure bleached bone showing on the raised areas. Of course i used this on bone flame designs, so im not sure how it wpuld work on a full weapon

looking forward to seeing the new models painted up... especially the wraithlord

the phoenix, i think, would look great in a simple black scheme with bone weapons and bone helix design on the front (like the GW falcons, or this, replacing the blue with brown-bone colour) or maybe something similar to a saim hann vehicle with a nice eldar rune - by the gods, if the phoenix doesnt have enough flat areas for something like that, i dont know what would!

That would make sense.

For Wraithbone do a basic bone - graveyard earth, bleached bone, flesh wash, bleached bone again and then highlight up using white added to bleached bone.

If you're doing Ulthwe then if you don't have them get a look at the old Craftworld and Eye of Terror books to give you more Ulthwe force shots to take inspiration from.

The Dire Avenger Exarch's Power Halberd and Shuriken pistol make for a very nice weapon pairing, if you can't get hold of one.

The photo size image, do you have MSpaint? You can scale images down in that suitably for warseer, but I would suggest using imageshack anyway for uploading pics, it doesn't reduce the image size (although keeping them under 700 pixels wide will keep them withing the borders of most screens).

Unfortunatly although I would love to have ordered the Forgeworld stuff you have (or maybe a Scorpion ) I cant afford anything else now, I have bankrupted myself !

Hey just a quick update on my stuff-nt done anything, as I have had an assignment, and a lot of revision/studying.

Anyway I got me my VDP, and imperial armour 2006.
The avatar is coming tomorrow

THe VDP had some mild warpage on its wings, which I fixed with some hot water and gentle manipulation. THe rest of the model is flash free!

Anyway-I remember star cannons being Heavy three? no?
Now they are HV 2 or have they always?

Cause the pulse laser is HV 2, so I am slighlty annoyed I did not get the normal phoenix now
But the VDP is a nicer model, and the pulse laser can be converted from the falcon-then I can have both. It would have been harder to convert a twin linked Star cannon!

Check myphotobuckeet for more pics and a hint at aeronautical imperialis on the order form of mine?

Also I am confused at the new codex!

The wraithlord and the war walkers can take two of the same weapon without them being twin lined-AM I CORRECT

The War Walker can. The Wraithlord can't. Save up on Scatter Lasers for your Walkers.

Yes, only the warwalker can. And I have to agree with Tom 8 str 6 shot on 1 walker is very painfully.

So finally it arrives...a bit smaller than expeted-but it is FW. I paid £45 for this and £60 for the VDP-suddenly it seems that the VDP was a bargain!

Anyway I have washed and cleaned the models now, although I don't know what to spray them with?

GW pray is just not good enough...

I was going to go to halfords (UK) and get some car body spray, but I am worried that I could not paint over this?

I may just have to use GW stuff, but after many many very very thin coats-to help adhesion.

Oh and I just found out I have another two modules assignments to hand in, so progress will be slow.

GW spray is fine to undercoat. I did it with 30 elysians and a vulture gunship and the paint hasn't dropped of yet. The avatar looks cool.

I also got a chain sword. I can only assume everyone is getting them? I would rather have the chainsword though and plan to cut a warp spider back pack off to add onto him.

I'd like to see more of your stuff painted. What is your plan with the avatar?

Well, I am planning on painting my avatar like the one from the old box of Rites of War..the old old warhammer 40000 pc game.

Red(molten) body, green hair, and lava coloured cracks.

The autarch, I phoned GW, and they sent me the body of the autarch with the wings,it has the power sword with it, although no wings, and no weapon/gun....free of charge...but only the body, as the power weapon is attached to the body.

Cheap nasty people...

The guy on the phone said that the LTD autarch was supposed to have the scorpian chainsword with him, but the eavy metal team wanted to be a bit more productive.?

They probably sacked the poor guy that modeled and painted him, as GW will be forking out so many autarch now...withou the proper bits.

On thereciept it says £8...liers!...£8 for the full autarch, but not just for his body!
I suppose it is better than nothing.

Paintwise I have had no time-wraithlord id modelled, with Wraithsword, starcannon, and two shurikin catapults. I used both 'flat' feet, and yes, yes I used the tabard/loin cloth, but put the shield ontop of it...Pics in a few days, as the model is at my dads house.

I also bought the new farseer with body guard, planning on getting Dark reapers, and to all of you out there who moan that there are only five models in the box...FIVE is the squad limit...so what good would 6 be?
Also £50 army set...more ire avengers is always good...and I have always wanted o get a Waveserpent.
