    @Crazy Harborc: Hooray for old farts then! Where can we have a look at your pictures?

    @tancrede: Thanks very much. I was opposed to the full metal look because it simply doesn't fit the army (and I'd rather have gaudy colours in an Empire army than large chunks of metal).

    @Gargobot:

    So here's yet another picture that shows hardly any progress:

    I decided to just not do the yellow and black furnance. maybe I'll do the top a bit more colourful (hence why it's still yellow). Hope you like it!

    Very nicely done.

    It really fits the theme you have and the fluff of the Empire

    Very pretty, if I ever get a Steamtank for my empire army I think I will do it in the colours too. Much more interesting.

    That steam tank is looking great! I was just about to ask if you where going to paint the shields on the sides of the tank, and then I found that you had uploaded some new pictures. I think painting the shields Improved the overall look of the tank immensely.

    Keep up the excellent work!

    Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves, Warmaster and various other stuff - by sigur

    @fluffy05: Thanks. I actually don't seem to be quite up to date on steam tank fluff. Last number I had was that there were about 12 operational steam tanks across the Empire (that was in the 5th edition army book IIRC) but lately I heard that only six of them still worked. That's pretty surprising acutally considering GW's trend of late. I would have guessed they changed it to "there's 200 steam tanks now but 150 were destroyed during The Big Battle of Whatnot."

    @eldargal: Indeed. I mean, there may be some armies which can take a huge lump of metallic colour and not suffer visually but me, I'm opposed to the overuse of metallics on large areas.

    @Malenky_malchick: Thanks muchly. I better deliver quality work so I can afford expensive airbrush guns.

    @mrtn: Cheers. About the dirt - I'm not sure actually. I don't think I will add any because a.) I don't really know what the customer will do with the bases and oddly-coloured dirt may look very weird in the end and b.) I like a very clean look on most WHFB armies (and Empire definately are one of them).

    Okies, Steam Tank is finished (apart from the scripture in the front and a tiny detail in the back I just noticed now):

    FUN FACT: The parchment lookalike thing in the back sports the letters FF and RW which actually is supposed to mean "Fridolin Feichtinger" and "Ronaldo Wunderlich", the engineers in charge who worked on the tank. Only after finishing the letters, I noticed that the letters look a lot like "Fast Forward" and "Rewind".

    4th edition claimed that there were 12 but 4 were destroyed or ruined in testing

    Standing ovation Sigur. That's what I'm giving you right now. That is the best looking ST I have ever seen, GW HM or otherwise. I want to put it on a pedestal and charge money to show it off. Does this mean the second lot is done?

    @Crube: Thanks.

    @mbh1127: Oh, thanks for the correction. That's what I get for basing my knowledge on second hand info I got 10 something years ago.

    @Samurai33: Hurhur. Glad you like the tank. I'll send you a PM or e-mail in a moment.

    @lorelorn: Cheers!

    @Griffonclaw: Thank you. :-)

    Yay, Warseer's up again! Let's get right to the updates:

    So, let's start with the completed stuff. The Steam Tank is fully finished now:

    I also took some army shots of the finished second bunch who are going to be posted soon. Some of the pictures are rather large so I just put them on Facebook: Empire pictures folder (last three pictures). I really like the shadows the minis cast. :-)

    Between the Adeptus Mechanicus, steam tank and BA Terminators (see my Sci-Fi log), there was a little time so I finally tackled (hahahah) this BloodBowl miniature I've meant to paint for a long time. I won him at a painting competition at GarageGamer's blog. The miniature was made by Gorgon Studios who mostly do ancient historical minis (they got solid ranges on Etruscans and Spartans for instance). I call him Thick McRunfast for obvious reasons. He's not completely finished yet but almost:

    I also started working on my Landship but didn't get too far (cleaned and primed the thing) before I had to turn back to commission work. At least I stuck it together and did some pictures of the crew and a size comparison picture:

    Now apart from the fact that somehow the whole front plateau seems to be leaning towards one side (which means that a fair bit of filing will have to be done) there's two more problems with this: First, it's only for myself and interwebz displaying reasons so prioritywise, it will take the backseat to commission work. Second, I don't even quite know what to do with it. I mean it's going to be on a display base and whatnot but I'd like to keep it also usable in games (for the unlikely case that I'll ever get my Empire army done) and would like to keep it in a colour scheme for this potential Empire army of mine for which I of course have no colourscheme yet. Using the landship for a testmini would be a little too brave for my tastes. ;-)

    Anyway, that's all in terms of Fantasy pictures. I got tons of 40k stuff to do these days so this blog may get a little less attention in the next few weeks than it did in the past months. Here's a list:

    Things that are up next:
    .) More Orks!
    .) Lots of Blood Angels Terminators! [currently working on those]
    .) Malifaux! (The Ortegas, yay!)
    .) Space Wolves army in regular 'Eavy Metal Scheme.

    Fantasy:
    .) Ironsides Handgunners, General and Battle Standard bearer for the Averland army!

    Got all the Empire minis now. FW are so kind as to give you 10 infantry bases with the Ironsides conversion kit so they really make sure you'll be able to make 10 Crossbowmen as well as 10 Ironsides from the handgunners kit without any problems. This way, the Empire conversion sets really are a good deal in my opinion.

    Let's see, maybe I'll throw the Malifaux minis into the Fantasy painting log as well. Really looking forward to doing those. They're not only very nice, different miniatures but the admins of the Wyrd forums have been so nice as to let me post pictures of my works on their forums for the past months and not even a bit of Malifaux was amonst the stuff (as you know) so finally I get to get some of their stuff in there as well.

    Anyway, that's this update, hope that everybody's fine. Have a nice week and C&C are welcome as always!

    P.S.: There's a large-ish update in my Sci-Fi log as well of course. (Adeptus Mechanicus, lots of big, red Marines)

    That ship looks like it's gonna be really fun to paint. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

    Been thinking of getting some of the Malifaux minis myself. Might go with the pack with all the girls in it.

    That landship is humongus. It loos brilliant as a display model, but how would you fit it into regular games...perhaps the Storm of magic expansion opens up some possibilities. Anyways I look forwards to seeing what you do with it....in about 10 years time when your commissionwindow gives you the opportunity

    "Manum Marius" is one of the coolest Steamtanks I've seen so far, my respect. My eyes are pleased with what comes next, looking forward to see them done.

    I MISSED this thread!! No Warseer meant no checking daily on this thread.

    Let's see, that guy with the pig skin was wha'....A Blood Bowl player? I thought those "crewmen" were the referees of the Blood Bowl game.
    I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?

    Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves, Warmaster and various other stuff - by sigur

    @Dino: Cheers. You mean the ones who look like they're varieté dancers? Those cought my attention as well. Many of the minis in Malifaux are a bit comically over the top for my liking or at least in a kind of style I'm not that used to.

    @npow34: Well, you could get one. :-)

    @Samurai33: Cheers. Luckily, the guys who write rules for The Forge seem to be rather down to earth in terms of power level. The real concept behind the Landship is that it's just a silly idea altogether and the rules reflect that. I'm not too much in the WHFB rules right now but I think that it costs about 100pts more than a Steam Tank, got way less toughness, more wounds, is more prone to malfunctions and less heavily armed. I can imagine that it would fit quite okay into a game of 2000pts and up.

    @Breazer: Hey, I had to get that Landship myself! ;-)

    @Indreth: Besten Dank.

    @Crazy Harborc: I missed this thread too. Thanks for commenting that reliably.

    @-fen-: I'll do my best!

    So I planned to go crazy on all the 40k things I have to do now but once the new Empire minis arrived, I couldn't resist putting them together. So batch#3 of the Averlanders:

    .) Battle Standard Bearer
    .) 1 Empire Captain
    .) 10 Crossbowmen
    .) 10 Ironsides handgunners

    are built, based and primed now.
