Very quick update - Mortar shortly before being finished. The kit's very old (2000ish IIRC) and unhappily I have to admit that it shows so I added that little pennant to the front to add some colour.

Yeah, cool updates mate! The Hunters and mortar look fine, I like the cloth too.
Oh good idea, I'll steal that for my next mortar.![]()
@anselminus: Thanks. It would look really bland without that little thing in the front.
@Indreth: Thank ye, Sire!
@Gargobot: Yup, do it. I also looked into adding the laurels you get with quite a few of the newer kits (outriders mostly). When using this specific bit (it's from the stank box), you have to shave a millimeter or so off the parchment bits on the sides so it fits between the ...stick....things.![]()
Those are fine looking archers. IMHO, more in keeping with what a formation really looked like as far as being "ranked up" went. At least for a siege.
For shooters of all types, I do like having some non"ranked up" minies to mix in.![]()
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
@Crazy Harborc: Thanks. Yeah, I'm actually surprised how well these archers rank up despite the pretty "dynamic" poses on some of them as well as the bows.
Doop-de-doo...Update...
Finished mortar and crew:
WIP Warrior Priest, soon to be finished:
Hope you like them.![]()
Impressive Sigur. Very impressive. And the week's not halfway over yet. Are you not concerned that taking all these painting steroids will effect your health in the long run?
Your an unbelievably fast painter! Mortar and crew looks fantastic, love the added detail
on the front of the mortar.
Warrior priest is coming along nicely too, beautiful painting on the cloak. The model feels like it's missing something to give it that extra pop. Maybe a touch more yellow mixed in the green of the book to increase the contrast with the cloak. Or a different colour on the wrapping on the weapon shaft (or maybe the belt instead) to draw the eye in/add a bit of contrast on the front of the model.
However, I am only being extremely picky given that you are such a good painter. Really looking forward to seeing the whole army done. You will have one very happy customer when it's all done. Do you ever feel a pang of regret with some armies and models when you send them back to their owners?
I like the little flag on the front of the mortar!
great stuff Sigur
@Samurai33: Thanks. It's not the steroids that concern me but all the brushlicking.
@Elfboy: Many thanks for the input. I agree, somehow he lacks colour in the front. I thought of doing the wrappings around the hammer's shaft in a very yellow-ish brown but that didn't come across so well so I thought of changing it to green similarly as on the book. I think that this would fix the problem to an extent. What do you think?
@Coalesce: Thanks very much. Always nice to see your avatar in here.
After some sitting around, thinking of possible colour schemes for the steam tank, I came up with this:
I didn't want to go for a metallic hull because nowhere else in the army are large bodies of full metallic colour so I opted to go for a scheme not unlike the one misterjustin (google him if you haven't heard of him yet. He's good at that miniatures painting stuffHe runs Secret Weapon too.) but instead of putting a focus on weathering, I'll keep the paintjob cleaner, more classic. I also added that little variation on the colour scheme to make it a bit more diverse instead of just keeping one colour on each side. So that's the thing I'll be working on mostly for the next days. How do you like the colourscheme?
Ys, I think the green would be a good way to go. The only other things I can think of is a dark browny, purpley red although I don't know if it'll be too much of a deviation from the overall palette, or to put a warm glaze on the gloves so that the tone is different to that of the shaft wrapping. These are quite speculative suggestions, mainly guesswork on my part
Love the approach for the steam tank, the cleaner paintjob than misterjustin's will suit Averland's status as a rich state. That's going to be one striking steam tank when your done!
In the words of the imortal Jim Carrey:I like it a loooot.
@Elfboy: Cheers, I think I'll try the green one.
@Samurai33: In the words of the (probably) immortal Montgomery Burns: Excellent.
I did a bit more "outlining" on the Stank so you get a better idea what I'm having in mind:

That works very well Sigur. I really like how you manage to tie it in with the rest of the army. Top notch.
That is starting to look very nice already.
@Samurai33: Glad you like it (meaning that I don't have to change the whole concept for I like it pretty much as well).
@elfboy: Cheers.
Okay, it's taking a little (very little) more shape:
...and a frontal shot:

SWEET..... a very great looking steamtank is coming along very well. Unfinished it looks WAY better than my (long ago) finished metal one.
By the by, a old fart opponent has figured out to take photos (good(?) ones) of some of my minies.![]()
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
Wonderful paintjob (as always, must I say) on this empire stuff, especially the warrior priest (i really like the way you've done the purple).
But the steamtank is really impressive in the black/yellow scheme. Now I've seen yours, I'm not sure anymore to work mine in full metallic colors ! ^^

Wow! Seeing the first wip shot I thought this might end up pretty bad looking.
And I was right it does look bad; bad-ass!![]()
