@Gargobot:Thanks very much. Painting Warmaster minis is pretty easy because you nowhere have to blend colours as smoothly as on 28mm scale minis. It's pretty quick and dirty actually.

    Righty, Spiderriders are finished:

Sorry about the possibly bad picture quality the screen of my desktop PC is getting really really old now and it's incredibly blurry so the pictures might be a little overly sharp.

Anyway, what do you think, Sirs? I will add some static grass to the bases in the end. Green grass for the Gobbos, "dead"/straw-y grass for the chaos dudes.

    C&C welcome as always!

I did not know that the Warmaster minies would paint up sooo well. I tried to paint 15mm minies a while back.....Um, my eyes rebelled.

    Great to look at here.
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?

    Thanks guys. :-)

@Kaos: Go for it! Good luck with finding gaming buddies though. The guy I paint these for assured me that there's about 10 Warmaster players in my country but I don't really believe him.

@Crazy Harborc: In fact it's 10mm. :-P Anyhow, thanks. They are fairly easy to paint as you don't have to give much about proper blending.

Hmm, no news really but my static grass finally arrived today so I finished the minis:

So these are the final photos before I send them off to their journey to their owner. How do you like'em?

Well, you've managed to paint a better freehand banner design on those Chaos chaps that I can do in 28mm. Git.

Is the Forest Goblin one part of the model? If it's freehand too I'm just going to cry...

@Catferret: Eventhough it would be an exquisite pleasure to make you cry ( ), the iconography is part of the model.

@mrtn: Thanks. It's not my choice, I just paint what I get sent.

Alright you guys, new updates coming up and this time it's

    Warmaster Araby

    How's that for unique?

Alright you guys, the Araby stuff finally arrived. It's LOTS and has some quirky fun stuff. Here's a little preview of some things:

The guy has to give me some more info about the colourscheme, then real painting can commence. See you soon!

The Araby Warmaster is going to be great. I already love the Warmaster stuff you have done (too bad it is all for commission, since we now have the 'infants' catagory in the ToFP , and I know you will do this one justice. So great to have you back in the fantasy side of things again!
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

I'm hoping to stay motivated to finish painting an army, or three.... (Update: 10/1/09!)

I'm very much looking forward to seeing more Araby goodness (and living vicariously through your log - I'd love to have those models, but I couldn't do them justice).

@McMullet: Just wait until you see the giant octopus with a missile launcher on his head!

@Rolo Ramone: Great to hear you're starting Warmaster. Which army are you playing?

@Nephilim of Sin: Hey, nice to hear from you again, Mr.Nephilim. How's things? I'd loved to enter the Araby stuff for the Tale of Fantasy players but I don't plan to stretch the whole commission out to a year.

@EmperorNorton: Hehe, well, I mentioned it several times in this log already; 10mm scale minis are much easier to paint than 28mm scaled ones, eventhough the detail on these WM minis is always a pleasure.

Alright you guys, here's another picture of the miniatures. Again, it's not the full bunch but what is looking like I'd done something on them already:

For those who care, in the picture you can see the way I base Warmaster miniatures which is a bit tricky.

A full list of the units in this batch:

    1 unit of Spearmen
    1 unit of camel cavlary
    1 unit of knights
    1 unit of mounted archers
    Three war elephants
One general in a teapot mounted on the back of an elephant
A whole bunch of characters which are really really awesome. There's a djinn, a magician, a carpet salesman, a rope trick guy, a thief, ...

So there's lots of fun stuff coming up. The jobs I did so far on these minis are rather scattered around because the guy I'm painting these for took a day or so to reply to my question concerning his preferred colour scheme. The answer was, as most of the times, "paint them as you like, they'll look good" but I still waited for his reply because of what crucial factor? Customer care. There's three words that characterize my commission painting: customer, customer, customer - service, service, service.

I thought of using brass, blue and beige a lot in this army, with the mandatory little red details. What do you think of that?

Your miniatures are a a lot much better then those on GW site. I´m starting with Bretonnia in warmaster.

Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves and various other stuff - by sigur

Wow, sigur! I just looked through the entire log, and I am really impressed. I especially like your Warmaster stuff, and if I did not have so many projects going on myself, I would definitely try an army out.

Now, I just wonder how to convince you to go one step further and change 10mm to 6mm. There is a persistent rumour about squats...

Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves and various other stuff - by sigur

    @Rolo Ramone: Thanks muchly.

@Fredmans: Thanks lotsly. Make sure you try Warmaster out. I mean, I never read the rules really and there's like 20 players in the entire world but the rulesystem seems to be equally well done as other Specialist Games and the miniatures are very cool. Somehow Warmaster, with all it's foot troops and big formations, feels more down to earth than fancypants Warhammer Fantasy. Concerning the Squats...I'd love to do those but on one hand I only have a handful of Epic Squats (no way enough for an army), no money to buy more epic minis and no Epic players in my area. But I got almost a platoon of Squats coming up in the Tale of 40k Painters if that's of help for you.

Sorry guys, no picture updates for the next week. Parents are on a holiday trip and took the cam away from me.

Work on the Araby army is going quite slowly. I'm not entirely happy with the colourscheme I chose and it's just a load of minis to paint. I'm also painting three units simultanously at the moment which is never a good idea.

So at the moment, the spearmen are finished including some freehand on the banner which was quite nice to do. Shame the rest is all slapping base colour onto a formation of minis, highlight, highlight, shade, and then it's the next colour. Again, I went for too complicated and time-consuming recilpies. Example: skin. It's base colour, highlight, wash, final highlight. And that's for a part of the mini that doesn't cover any more than three square millimeters on the whole mini combined.

Anyhow, maybe I can fix the time issue. I'll keep you updated, good night for now.

Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves and various other stuff - by sigur

Alright, another small update just to show you that I'm proceeding.

Here's the upated to do list for the current Araby batch:

1 unit of Spearmen - done
1 unit of camel cavalry - done
1 unit of knights - based
1 unit of mounted archers - currently WIP, based and horses painted (even in 10mm scale, I don't like painting horses)
    Three war elephants - done
One general in a teapot mounted on the back of an elephant - done
A whole bunch of characters which are really really awesome. There's a djinn, a magician, a carpet salesman, a rope trick guy, a thief, ... - not even assembled properly or put on bases.

The infantry (like painting warmaster infantry) and the fancier units were done first, now I'm doing the light and heavy cavalry, then it's all characters and fun stuff. Trying to do as much commission work as possible at the moment but I'm still painfully slow.

    Pictures on thursday or friday.

First off, don't shut this thread down mods, pretty please. There will be three postings by me now because I couldn't update in over a week and have many pictures to show off.

So I got my camera back now and this means: Picture update time!

    Spearmen

    Mounted Archers

    Knights

    General on War Elephant
