@dwarfhold13: Hehe, no problem. Anyway, may I nick the term "WIP area"? Makes the random heap of half-done miniatures in my desk sound a whole lot better.

    Picture update:

Applied some washes (camera ate all the highlights and shading on the reds away), painted on and started highlihting the darker brown.

I like them a whole lot better now that there's less white on the miniatures. I guess that the heavy dusting wasn't the best of ideas because I obviously don't really know how to make it work for me. I still paint like on black primer and I think that the result would look the same.

    Still to do:
    Finish darker browns
    paint white socks and stripes
    paint metallics
    base

we can nick it for sure.. have you seen my plog? i took random pics of my 'piles' and put them up..
team is looking great though.. i need to convert a blood bowl ogre for the plastic humans i got with the box.. i've got three teams, but just need to finish them up..
i also have that same problem with the light washing out figures like my dwarfs.. i used the same method for painting my red and it looks exactly the same.. even with using blood red for highlights
A shake of this and a sprinkle of that, then BAM!!!! It's my PLOG! (contains dark elf, dwarf, lizards and more)
    Dark Elf revamp in progress...

Whoa, I went through the entire 41 pages of this log (it took me half a day and I haven't read everything - and it's almost 2 am now ! ) and I have to say I love your painting ! You do stuff really well and it's a pleasure to see every picture you show

And now I have to start a warmaster araby army too, and buy a few knights, and I like the dark elfs minis, and ... well, I don't have the money, so I will just wish I guess ! (And maybe I should get around painting what I have too.)

But I really like your log, I really do !
How to recycle your plastic sprues ! And it won't even cost you a penny

I too, have spent the last three hours poring through the pages of your PLOG. It has been over a year since I last picked up a brush, but you have inspired me to finish my Estalian Conquistador army for WFB.

Perhaps I'll even learn how to take photos of them and post them here. I'm pretty proud of them (nowhere near your level though).

    Keep it up!

@dwarfhold13: I had a look at your plog. Very cool conversions and painting in there. Have a look at that one, people!

@The boyz: Thanks. I like painting red, it's always a joy. The armour looks better in real life but maybe in another picture...

@Ancre: Hehe, thanks a lot. Hope you got any WM players around your area.

@Anvilbrow: Cheers. Sounds like a very cool army idea, make sure you get those photos of your army online soon!

Alright, due to being occupied with celebrating me olde self (birthday), painting was a bit slow the past two days. Picture update would look boring because not much visible has happened. But I can still update my to do list.

    Still to do:
Finish darker browns- done, except on the Ogre. Yerch.
paint white socks and stripes - not even begun yet
paint metallics - currently working on that. Boltgun metal, black wash, highlights. Classic.
base - not even begun yet, obviously. Usually, I base miniatures before painting them but as there will only be static grass on the plain bases, no base sculpting or sanding was required and i always do static grass (or snow or stuff like that) last.

Now I'm off to old home for some Dungeons and Dragons-eering and further celebrations. See you guys later.

@shadowtiger99: It's been a while since I painted purple but it goes like this: Liche Purple/chaos black basecoat, work up from that until you hit pure liche purple, then start adding either skull white or bleached bone (which I prefer) to the liche purple and highlight away. Do final highlights with a 90/10 mix of liche purple and bleached bone or skull white. Keep your paints thin and you should be fine.

@dwarfhold13: Hehe, yeah. and having gotten into the GW thing back then, I still think that no miniature may pass without at least a bit of red on it.

@Crazy Harborc: Gee, I guess I can always trust in your assistance when I want to feel miserable, eh? No grey hair that I'm aware of yet but a friend likes to tease me about some receding hairline which is ********!! (*carefully combs over the last three remaining hairs).

Well, metallics are done now, darker browns are done now, so I'm only left with the socks and the bases. And those weird towels all the players are having with them. What's up with those anyway?

The towels are obviously for whipping each other in the showers as sports guys are wont to do.

They're for cleaning hands/gloves so that you can hold the ball easily (in wet or otherwise manky, muddy conditions). It makes a difference believe me!

Just another detail they have taken from NFL players and added to blood bowl.

    On topic:

Looking good mate, the one observation I would make though is, the armour is pretty bland. It's just red really, I'd like to see some white details added to it, especially on the linemen. I think the helmets might have been better in white with a red stripe down the midddle.

But other than those preferences, you've done a great job getting a nice smooth, strong red.

    Keep up the good work.

    Cheers,

    Dante

    @Catferret:

@CMDante: Meh, that might also be an explanation but, being an ignorant git towards american football, I think I prefer Catferret's explanation. Thanks for the comment on the overall painting scheme. Again I want to mention how my camera eats shadings and highlights on reds so it doesn't look that bland in real life but in general, you might be right about the colourscheme. White helmets might have worked better.

    Updates!

No big news on the BB team, but I wanna get it done soon. I think that the added grass gives a nice contrast to the red armour parts and make the minis look much more nicely. Ocational stripes on the bases make a real difference too. The minis are a little bit messy in small places but I'm pretty pleased with them and will call them finished after a few touch-ups.

Then, there's Warmaster. With this batch, I got something new - not hordes of stuff to paint but small bits to convert and build. There's three things that have to be done:

a.) Convert flying Tzeentch chariots consisting of Gobbo chariots and flying daemons. I added tzeentchian fire to make them look more in character.

b.) 19 chariot crew Goblins. Pretty straightforward, just painting but it's a bit annoying having to mount the minis on something because they are really small and fiddly.

c.) Chaos Spawns. The customer converted some chaos spawns using GS. The problem is that he didn't knead the yellow and blue parts so it will never cure is and is a chore to remove so I'll have to get rid of all the yellow and blue stuff before I can build the things again from scratch.

Updates coming up soon I hope. C&C welcome as always.

    BB team looks great now!
Will there be goblins in the tzeentchian chariots ... or are you painting them up to use elsewhere? They look really good, considering their size and all. Well painted tiny faces.

Oh, and good luck with the GS plucking!

@Solun Decius: Cheers, the green grass really improve the overall looks of the whole team. They aren't going on the chaos chariots, the customer just sent them and requested that I paint them. I hope he doesn't start painting stuffs like chariots himself or got someone to paint his WM things even cheaper (which i really doubt).

    @Crube: Yes, aren't they adorable?

Righty you guys, I decided that the BB team is finished (final pictures soon), finished painting these crew gobbos and got surprisingly far on the tzeentch chariot (on 9/9/09, most suspiciously).

    chariots and screamers

And here's one of those ever popular size comparison shots.

Well, well, well, I haven't painted a Tzeentch Miniature in AGES (not since the three weeks i was a dedicated CSM player right after starting 40k I think).

It's also good to finally get some projects off the table (like the BB team). At the moment I actually am only working on one commission only and I'm proceeding well with it. Nice thing, that.

Awww! So cute! Lil tiny screamers.

Nice work. I'll be damned if I could paint detail on such small models. If I was wearing my hat, I'd tip it to you.
