    @Samurai33: Glad you like them.

    @Indreth: Thanks to you, kind Sir.

    Once more, an update:

    I redid the faces a little, painted some teeth and eyes (to an extent. More recent plastic sculpts of human heads have very, very small eyes and overly exposed lower eyelids that make painting eyes a little superfluous, at least on these State Troops.) and added shields of course. The shield emblems aren't quite finished as you can see in the picture.

    I know what you mean about the eyes on some of the newer models, empire plastics seem to be the worst offenders in my opinion. Still, outstanding work none the less.

    Those swordsmen are looking great! Impressive work on the banner and the rank and file are a very high standard indeed. Your work keeps getting better and better. Salute!

    Brilliant. I love the tight scheme the banner but favorite for me is the variation in the shields. Perfect. Great unit.

    @minitrol: Never. ;-)

    @Mr.Ultra: Thank you.

    @Daijan: Cheers. I did a little more work today and decided that it's finished now.

    @deathskullork: Hey, long time no see. Thanks for backing me up on this one. These Empire dudes don't even have eyeballs sculpted. I think it would be much effort and ultimately less appealing to force eyes on these guys. IG sculpts like the command squad boxes, which were made a few years later, are better in that regard.

    @jdp: Thanks man!

    @Harry: Many thanks.

    @Herebedragons: Cheers!

    Little update on what happened today (apart from a bit more on the Swordsmen).

    10 more Greatwords WIP

    I'm really trying to do as much as possible because these days i'm mostly motivated by panic because this monstrosity is leering at me day and night and I know that some time soon I won't be able to resist any more and get it out of its box. And once that happens, the Empire stuff is starting to get delayed...

    Err how much more Empire are you gonna paint? First I was excited. A gifted painter like you painting my favorite army, but now you're starting to make me look bad. The speed, the quality...
    Joke aside get done with that Averland army, I reallył want to see that chimera... like really!

    Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves, Warmaster and various other stuff - by sigur

    @Gargobot: Thanks for the compliments. There's much more Empire stuff coming up. I guess it's a good time to update that To-Do-list:

    Captain - finished

    Captain - finished
    Fire Wizard - finished
    Light Wizard - finished
    Engineer - on sprue
    War Priest - silver

    20 Swordmen - finished
    10 Halbardiers - finished
    20 Greatswords - WIP
    10 Handgunners - finished
    10 Handgunners - on sprue
    10 Swordsmen - on sprue
    10 Archers - on sprue

    8 Knights - on sprue
    10 Outriders - early WIP

    1 Volley Gun - finished
    1 Mortar - on sprue
    1 Steam Tank - on sprue

    Of these, I don't even have the Stank, Huntsmen, Engineer and Mortar yet. So still lots to do. By the way, has anyone of you converted an outrider Champion to have a Hochland Rifle? The Outriders box doesn't have one. I considered using the one from the Handgunners naturally but I read that the Stank comes with a nice Hochland Rifle that isn't the size of an anti-tank gun like the one that comes with the handgunners. I guess I'll try that one once I get the Stank then.

    edit: BY THE WAY! The Advance Orders for the new O&G stuff are up since today. Wow. Here's a short rundown (because I'd much rather write about these minis than going on painting the greatswords at the moment) of my thoughts: First, that giant Spider thing looks like LOADS of fun. Usually I'd rant about GW throwing big plastic kits at us now all the times and seamlessly derail into a long-winded rant about flyers in 40k at this point but this kit just looks like it's too much fun to work with. It's IMMENSE and from what I've seen so far, there's little to none Forest gobbo specific iconography or stuff sculpted onto the howdah so it should be possible to replace the Forest gobbos with Night Goblins or regular ones. Or even orcs, Gnoblars, Vampires or whatever! Second observation: No nipples on the savage Orcs. This may be a minor, petty thing and probably less of a travesty than it is in 40k but I think that any kind of dehumanisation of Orcs or Orks is a bad idea. Not a fan of the current Orc/Ork anatomy in general but whatever. Nice that people get Savage Orcs in plastic now and even plastic Savage Orc Boarboys as well. Neat. I think that we'll see quite a lot of O&G armies from the Southlands; maybe combined with pirate Orcs to get in some units that aren't Savage or Forest. I really like that Savage Orc Shaman on boar. The pose is great and I LOVE grinning Orcs. New Wurrzag is very good as well. Looks like a fun sculpt. I can't say that I'm utterly thrilled with the fact that army books seem to be hardback now but I don't mind. It's a nice change but unfortunately catapults prices up so they're almost on par with pen&paper RPG sourcebooks.

    Anyway, I guess I should get back to painting Empire dudes. Guess it won't be long until they get a new army book as well.

    I have a simple idea. Save the massive chimera as a sort of gift to yourself when you finish your empire army. As much as I would love to see this model in the hands of a master painter such as yourself a finished army always tops a awsome looking single monster any day of the week in my book.

    No Sigur, drop everything you're doing and paint that buggar now! it's such an awesome sculpt and i can't wait to see it painted by you.
    Also i'm dissapointed you wrote sigmar instead of sigur on the empire banner

    I'm sure your client wouldn't mind you putting the Empire army on hold while you treat yourself to the Chimera. After all, all work and no play.......

    Re: BfSP box, Dark Elves, Warmaster and various other stuff - by sigur

    @Dino: Thanks for being the voice of reason there. I won't finish all the Empire army before doing the Chimera but I'll try to finish some more stuff before I start working on that monster.

    @violenceha: Cheers. I'll have to finish a little more but then I'll start painting that one. On the freehand names: Believe me, every single time I Freehand words onto something, I'm tempted to put some silly little references on there. I think I put "NEDM" on a Space Wolves Rhino once. But once I put my grandma's late dog's name on the armour of a Wolf Lord's thunderwolf, people didn't like it. (ref. "Rolf"-incident). So I guess I try to stay "professional" most of the time.

    @Samurai33: Hehe, thanks but as I said, I'll try to get some more Empire stuff done. By now, painting Greatswords goes pretty fluently, Outriders will go well too I think and even State Troops aren't that menacing any more.

    Outrider horses, yay!

    I just have to see that Chimera assembled and painted. Size comparisons would rock as well, a Chimera is on the list of beasts I need to source one of.

    Ooh, I'm really looking forward to seeing your Chimera.
    Ben Komets did a great job painting it for the official pictures, but generally I don't like his painting style. So I have no doubt yours will look even better.

    Cool you bought this monster, I'd always wanted to know how big it is. Would you mind taking a size picture when you finish assembling it?
