That warmaster army really makes me wish that there was a 28mm version of them... Flying carpets!
The Chimera is stunning, far too large for my purposes, but I'm loving your rendering of it.

The paint job on the chimera really is something special. Great stuff Mr Squrrl.
the empire army looks very nice...and the chaimera is stunning...
is there more empire coming?
@Samurai33: Thanks. Glad you like them.
@jdp: Thanks. Especially with these Empire armies, army shots really are worth the effort. And yes indeed - making the filled up joints look proper again really wasn't something I was looking forward to at all. Surprisingly enough, it looks almost good again now. If I brush on some more texture again, I think I can make it look nice.
@Crazy Harborc: Cheers.How are those Mercenaries coming along?
@Indreth: Thanks. There's more coming up for the Averlanders - some characters, some more units, some artillery and a Steam Tank. Oh, and more Outriders.
@Dino: Thanks, Sir.
@Gargobot: Dankeschön. That "sun" effect is due to a construction site lamp I've been using to lighten everything up because the real sun decided to let me down on armyshot day.
@Harry: Sorry.
@-fen-: Yup, the Warmaster Arabyans are very awesome minis. They also got everything in there - flying carpets, camels, djinns and elephants. Fun stuff. I don't think they could do them equally well in 28mm though. They'd stick on outlandish fantasy imaginery details, they'd overdo armour (and details in general), replace elephants with dragonphant things (think Stegadon with big ears.), throw in lots of ninjas and round everything off with steam-powered laserguns. The main thing I like about Warmaster minis is how down to earth they are in terms of design. In 28mm, GW (and so many other companies) tend to clutter everything up with details.
@Catferret: Cheers!
@Breazer: Thank you! Yup, more empire coming up. Apart from that, I ordered me one of them FW Landships a few days ago.![]()
Another little update on the Chimera:
C&C welcome
Stunning paintjob on the Chimera and on everything else. I find it amazing you pick out just the right color for just the right part and apply it just the right way.

Wonderful painting of the Chimera. Yours easily rivals that of Maelstroms.
I can only hope mine will be a third as good as yours.
Well, that is absolutely terrifying.
Whoa! That lion's head is just disturbingly well done!

Yo momma's so fat, she has to roll 2d6 for impact hits!
We're not just going to shoot the basterds. We're going to cut out their living guts, and use them to grease our treads!
sigar........Your painting skills really make the chimera look good.
I am making very good progress on my Perry Miniatures WoTRs Mercs. The detail level of PM's plastic minies is GREAT. The PM, 28mm size means my GW's Empire minies look just fine in units standing by the PM goodies.
Now, I am looking around for cav to fit into the periods I want to fight battles in. Fortunately my regular group of opponents and I do not "need" "fit for museum dioramas" minies.
Tomorrow (Sunday) is the first useage of my PM plastic Mercs. We are using the (modified for the scenero) Volley and Bayonet, Path to Glory rules. That is a fine set of rules as written. Just not written with pre-ECW in mind.
My modified version is NOT for anywhere but my table. A fun afternoon with beer and snacks, between LONG time friends.![]()
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
The chimera is looking great, you handled those seams perfectly! Gold star once again!
`there's the King's Messenger. He's in prison now, being punished: and the trial doesn't even begin till next Wednesday: and of course the crime comes last of all.'`Suppose he never commits the crime?' said Alice. `That would be all the better, wouldn't it?' the Queen said.

@Morglum Necksnapper: Hehehe, thanks. Guess that comes with experience. Albeit I have to admit that with the Chimera I'm incredibly cautious about every single step (that's why this one takes me so long to paint).
@Darsc Zacal: Cheers. The Maelstrom paintjob by Ben Komets is fundamentally different to how I paint miniatures. It has a clever balance between colours and really shows the typical style currently preferred for showcase/high-end painting competition level stuff. Many thanks for your compliment. It's just different styles of painting I guess. And the model itself is very different to everything I painted before.
@Lord Dan: It's a beautiful sculpt.
@Solun Decius: Thanks. I really like the frontal look as well.
@Sinnertje: Thanks I guess.
@Crazy Harborc: Sounds cool. Have fun tomorrow and let me know how it went!
@jdp: Cheers. They don't look perfect yet but with a little bit more cheating with painting on textures and all that, it should work out fine. Really glad about that. I already had scenarios in my mind in which I had to redo large portions of the skin just to make it all look like it's one piece.
Alright, a tiny little update on Empire stuffs - Tonight I assembled four Outriders (to go with the Hochland champion from earlier), a mortar and crew, a Überengineer on foot, 10 archers (great kit) and a steam tank (a-maaaaazing kit. Detail options, great detailling on the engine, full interior details and the fit of the parts is flawless).
And I'm currently watching David Hasselhoff and Kathy Ireland fight bad guys on tv. Good Saturday night.![]()
I have to say I get excited anytime I see someone do Warmaster. Really great job!
What is it with you Austrian/German people and David Hasselhoff![]()
You promised a picture of your mini, not a photograph of a live chimera...

@giant stegadon: Cheers, glad you like it!
@Samurai33: We have a special affection towards chesthair I suppose.Seriously, I don't know. I mean Knight Rider and Baywatch were great hits basically all around the world. The songs....well, I don't know. Guess that weird things happen from time to time. Rumor has it that "I've been looking for freedom" more or less tore down the Berlin wall but some musical numbers claim to have done so. Bottom line, David Hasselhoff is entertaining to watch. There was recently some really weird "comeback show" of his here in Austria. He's not a great singer, he's not a good actor but most things he does
usually ends up entertaining. Some may want to nail me on a cross now but he's kinda like William Shatner in that regard.
@Aulbath: Thanks.I'll post a picture of a model next time again.
@Rhaivaen: That outlines his appeal pretty well.Kathy Ireland is interesting too. She's like a less annoying prototype of Denise Richards. In fact, that gives me the idea that I'd like to see a remake of Universal Soldier with Kathy Ireland playing Dolph Lundgren's role and Denise Richard in JCVD's role. Don't know how I got that idea but ....anyway.
@AvatarForm: Thanks!
@Coalesce: Depends on wether or not that's you in that avatar picture.Erm, sorry. I'm doing pricing on an individual basis so if you PM or mail me a request and what you want me to paint for you I can tell you a price.
Little update on the Empire:
Them's the new guys, a.k.a. "Second batch":
