    half-custom techmarine WIP

Because I didn't like the over-the-top look of the new techmarine so I'm trying to make my own custom marine. THe hardest part is the servo-harness which I'm too cheap to bitz-order At the moment a lot of the green-stuff is still curing but afterwords I'm going to use plasticard to enclose the flamer and maybe add a targeter. Then after that sand excess GS down to conform with the model. I also need to make something for the plasma cutter, even if I'll never use it :P

Torso is from the BA honour guard, stormbolter from the term captain, servo arms from two tech marines, flamer from tac squad box. random sprue bits make the arm that holds the flamer in place. As for the plasma cutter, I'm thinking sprue bit and two plasma pistols, but I need to shrink it down to make it look normal

    anywho, comments/suggestions are appreciated

Good job, it's not as cluttered as the GW versions yet still holds a "Techmarine busy-ness" about it. What about having the plasma cutter mounted on his left hand [a la Grey Knight Terminator Storm Bolter]?

I've always liked the 2nd Edition Devastator legs, with the crenelations [this shape: _|¯|_|¯|_, etc] around them. They always seemed Techmarinish to me, perhaps you can add that too [it's a matter of personal preference, natrually]?
I would suggest that those players who think that paper tanks are cheating or disrespecting the hobby should see if they can track down a copy of White Dwarf #132. - kelvingreen

Thanks for the tip on the plas cutter. I made a small one and mounted it on the other arm in order to not clutter the front of the model. It's mounted on the Stormbolter arm. You can see my mini plas cutter in the rear view. The flamer arm has also been cleaned up a little bit and has an added outer casing from plasticard and a lil targeter on top of it.

just a lil more cleanup and it's ready for priming. Not going GW's heretical route of mixing chatper and mechanicus colors, going for a dark red with just he chapter pad. any more Comments/suggestions welcome

And you should *definately* switch the legs in favour of teh old Devastator legs, which even carries the Techmarine design. Your Techmarine is certainly less 'techy' than the GW one, but still looks like a Techmarine, and the GW one does not. Word of advice: Make it look like he's wearing Artificer Armour. On the whole, your take on the Servo-Harness Techmarine is as good as the 'normal' one, if not better.

Done something similar using the BA honour techmarine, some IH legs, an apothcarey back pack and the arms off the necromunda patriarch.

The green stuff on the left (right from the rear) of the back of the flamer looks aweful, between the plasticard and the plastic. Dont know if priming will fix it up, but it looks very "blobby".

Other than that great work, I love all of it. Nice job on the base too, simple and effective. You obviously know you're way around the marine plastics.

i'd like to dry dev legs but the way it's been posed I'm too lazy to fix it. The green-stuff on the back of the flamer has been sanded. You can't see it in the picture but it's flush with the plasticard
