And now ... for something completly diffrent WE 2K

Highborn - Hunters Talon ( sniper ) , PoS ( sprite sniper with 18" range ) , HagBane arrows ( for fast mage killing ) + Scaut kindred ( for deploying him last and thous having los to mages from T1 )

The list contains 2 mages ( 2lvl ) - I want to toy with the idea of supportive athel loren magic and see what it can do in a game. With this kind of the lord and army comp i can take out enemy mages fast and hopefully get magical dominance early on - it's also great aginst the all magehammer armys - the kind that WE will suffer from mostly.

Nobel - Helm of the hunt , Hail of doom + Alter Kindred GW , light armour

The Charge support character - 4A at good Ws and 6S are nothing to snees at - he will hunt warmshines and lone mages if need to but his main deal is to go and get CR for dryads and wardancers. And Hail of doom Is just to good to pass up with 39" range on him .

2X Spellsinger each with 1 Diss scroll ( i wanted to get more magic items BUT points :/// )

Ok lods of points in here but i think that with this fast army comp i may well get away with it.

    Core

    2x 10 glade Guard

Standard - to lure enemy and overall give enemy something to kill

    2x 6 Scauts

A little tricky - one unit supports Highborn the other serves mostly as sacrificial unit buing one more turn for the Elves if needed - also important in flee- countercharge chain.

1x 5 Glade ridders - to deny rank bonus if needed and simply to annoy the enemy - hiunder marching and so on.

2x 8 Dryads - Countercharging units - and screens - gives we something to fight with.

    Special

    2x 7 Wardancers - Main CR givers

1x 3 Warhawks - mage hunters ( with Hit and run ) and march denyers

    Rare

1x Great Eagle - Maschine hunter - march blocker

5x Waywatchers - Great placing rules good Bs and a real annoyance to the enemy.

The plan is simple take enemy mages of and hit him with either magical missiles or units that can regenerate couse terror and so on and so on.

    What do you think ???

( I would use more wild ridders - probably 2 units of 6 but then i coudlnt go mage variant - so say what would be better ??? - Guess I'll tr both wariants )

Dont think many can comment on your choices as a result of not everyone having the new Wood Elf codex sadly

Though from what i've read of the codex in our store your choices seem pretty sweet

im going for the mass MSU tree kin supported by either loads of skirmishing archers or dryad, with maxed out mages

I'd prefer a unit of Riders in theory over the mages and simply stick with a dispel caddy and another fighty hero. Wood Elf magic got toned way down and while the support spells are nice, you're paying a lot of points for the mages and I don't see you getting many spells off. Of course this all depends upon who your opponents are but in my area armies are generally min/maxed meaning you either go all out magic, or just enough to defend. Having a couple level 2's therefore, doenst cut it.

The mini maxing it's not the case with wood elves - thay are the only army that can deal with low T and no As characters with easy and this army with H.t And H.B is designed specifily for that you can not only get a easy kill on scroll caddie but also warhawk the 2W hero mages in one turn. Then when enemy's left with initial 2DD things may start to look grim to him.

Overall I agree that list is kind of mage heavy BUT i can just by dropping one mage and taking off 1 lvl from the other ( thous making him a caddie ) i free up 165 points witch is just enought for 6 wild ridders.

Oh and in addition my lord choice is expensive but i can change him any moment - so feel free to sugest something diffrent.

Hawks Talon doesn´t work with Hagbane.

I thought Hunter's Talon and Hagbane worked together, in fact, I remember reading through it and thinking the two were a perfect match.

Of course that doesnt make it a hard fact, I was scanning the book quickly and thus apt to misread.

Akuma as for your response regarding the lvl2 mages fair enough. I realized that you were banking on killing enemy mages in order to get your spells off I suppose I'm just not used to all the sniping goodies yet. For me, for now at least, I would have a hard time using an army whos success was heavily dependent upon killing the enemy mages off immidiately. With the new wood elves however, this may be viable.

Let us know how it works out once you get a few test games in!
