Firstly let me say, I love this log, wonderfull painting manBut I think you should paint your Cadians base rims black, right now the brown rim blends into the tallow grass and brownish earth, I feel

Very nice vanquisher, sheep !

Ah, now THATs a guardsman! I give DK painters a lot of props because those guys are so small!
There was something about him I couldn't quite pinpoint. He looks completely natural and very, very German. Then I realized...you carved off the curve that's at the top of the helmet! 'Tis a great move. So subtle, yet it gives the model a new look...IMO anyway...

Hooray! I was waiting for someone too noticeIt is very subtle, but it adds a whole lot of charm to the Kreig models (I know German is not what most people think is charming, their uniforms were designed by Hugo Boss after all
)
Glad you all like it.

Hey guys and gals;
Well i got off my **** and did some painting, picks aren't to good, and the snow on the bases is still wet, but you get the idea.
The dull coat killed the final highlight on the Greens, so i'll have to go back and fix that up.
Anyway Pics:

I think they are frikkin awesome. I love the chipped paing on the helmets and armour. not sold on the bases though, they do seem far too wet but maybethat is just me.
That missile launcher guy just kicks all kinds of @SS. Like, at least 6 or 7 kinds. Awesome Sheep!
Im so tempted by the DKK but i wont be allowed to buy any models until i have finished the 1500+ points of tauPlus the cost from fw of course. The wife would kill me.
Excellent work as usual Sheep. My only criticism would be the rocket launcher, it looks a bit dull, perhaps you might want to paint some parts of it with chipped paint?
Good one on the Panzerknacker, it looks shortened; what all did you do to it?

Love it all.
Sorry if someone has already asked, but how'd you do the chipped armour?
Is it me or is that missile launcher shorter? not the missile, that obviously is, the tube it self.

I love 'em...but you already knew that!
I wonder if there's a better color to pain the base edges...scorched brown maybe?

Thanks for all the great, and ecourageing comments guys.
Thanks. The Bases were still wet when the photos were taken, they look a little less shiney IRL
Haha, thats gold mate, thankyou.
Hmmm never thought of it like that, not the effect i was after either, its supposed to look like melting snow, thanks for the encouragement.
I agree, i'm thinking of doing the face shield in the chipped white paint effect.
Yeah it is shorter then the stock model.
To shorten it all i did was leave off the front part with the shield on it, cut the missile launcher smooth on the front, drilled the hole in it so it looked hollow, seperated the muzzle from the face shield, fitted the sield to the side of the tube, and glued it on.
The armour on the infantry is just painted a flat white, then the chips are painted on with Vallijo german grey, then the edges of the chips are picked out with chainmail, then the helmet is dirtied up with brown washes.
As above old bean
I agree mate, the mud is scorched brown, so i don't think that would work, they're graveyard earth atm, maybe black?
Thanks again.
Cheers

Great stuff Sheep.
Love the winter scheme. 5/5...oh wait I have already voted on this thread. Well someone else give the man an extra 5...how did this log slip into 4 territory!
I love the shading and the extra work on the wooden stock. Beautiful!

Fantastic Guard you have there. If the rumoured greatcoat guard ever turn up, your guys are gonna be a big inspiration on mine!!
2 thumbs up Sheep!
These guys are just great! I love the gritty, dirty feel they have about them.
I've found Black to work really great on base rims. Most of mine are done this way, regardless if there's mud, grass or swow on top...
Keep up the good work! 5/5
