    Back for good.

Sorry to all for the stupidly large gap school has been rather busy lately.

So now that this arena is full it will begin on Friday 15th December.

Put the date in your books

From the looks of it, ALL of our characters may be out of date with new codexes by the time we even get this started.

Re: [40K - Official] Super Heavyweight Entry Thread

Criticisms do not a faster AoD make. Not sure what Setra's planning to do with this, but I certainly wouldn't have this starting until the Heavyweight's finished.

Look, I understand people's frustrations with how much time the Rolling team are taking over this AoD, but sometimes things come up in our real lives. Yes, that's right, we do actually have real lives. I've been away at university for 3 months, for example, other people have sudden commitmenst, crisis and similar unforseen conundra. Face it: all you guys have to do is submit a character. We're the ones who put our best efforts into doing good, often time-consuming writeups for you guys, in return for what? Nothing.

And you know what else? We don't ask for anything in return. All we ask for is people noit to take these cheap shots at us. I understand people being disappointed by how slowly this is running, but snarky commenst make us even less liekly to get the thing done. You want these matches to get done? Belt up and give us a bit of support. Volunteer your services - we're always looking for people with time to do a few matches. Otherwise, just leave us to it. The odd calm, reasoned comment about pace is fair enough. Sarcastic, cheap shots at us are pointless and achieve nothing.

Re: [40K - Official] Super Heavyweight Entry Thread

I understand all of that. It is just a matter of having bitten off more then could be chewed. However, there IS truth to my words. Already, codexes are being released with more due out within the next few months. Since this has already been being planned for I'm not sure hass it been about 6 months? With no plans for starting it even in sight, it IS very likely that many of our characters WILL be out of date and need changing.
We just know next time to limit the number of entrants to a much much lower number and to find reliable rollers.
Please do not take this as criticism, it is just pointing out facts.
    Things we need to do...
    1. limit the number of entrants to a managable ammount.
    2. Find a select few cadre of reliable rollers.
    3. Set limits. If a roller cannot finish thier task (due to real life situations) they need to be responsible and let someone know so that another can take up thier duties here to cover.
**Edit** You mention real life responsibilities. That is good. As an educator, setting deadlines and following them is a good way to teach responsibilities. It is perfectly understandable that they cannot always be kept, but there remains the fact that it is the action of a responsibile person to attempt to meet them and if not, to at least make attempts to or inform others to help. You might think "this is just some online forum and I dont get paid there" and you are perfectly correct in that. However, you need to consider that however unimportant a responsibility is, if you accepted it, you are responsibile for it. Consider it like this, if you gave your word of honor to save someones life, you would try to keep it. If you gave your word to sharpen a pencil, you might not think it a big deal. In both situations, you have given your word. If you break it, you break it. Even though it may be over a little thing, you have still broken your word and others (and yourself) will know that your word means nothing. I know this is a little harsh and I may be totally wrong in it. I am just trying to show you my personal feelings on the situation so you will understand that I am not trying to take "cheap shots" or anything of that nature. It is just the way I look at it.**
Also, no one has been taking "cheap shots" at anyone so kindly do not troll putting words in our mouths. We are simply stating facts. We perfectly understand that you are not getting paid to do this. Trust me, I never got paid when I was doing it either. When I ran into real life situations that slowed me down, I informed the community and stepped down so that I could "handle my business" without slowing things down here. We understand that you do not get paid in money, but you do get paid in respect, responsiblility, the ability to contribute to the rules and how things are doen not to mention the satisfaction of being a "mover and shaker" within the community. "Political clout" goes a long way in this community towards recompense, as well it should when you are "performing" (as well it should).

Well, I wouldnt mind volunteering to do some rolling, if its needed.
As I always seem to have some spare time in the day.

I hope things can get moving again as i'm really enjoying reading all the matches so far,
keep up the good work guys

Re: [40K - Official] Super Heavyweight Entry Thread

@EVIL: What you say is perfectly reasonable, and I respect that. We have never said that we should get paid or anything (though feel free...), and that doesn't mean we don't take our responsibilities here seriously. We roll because we enjoy it, because we believe we have a story to tell and like creative writing, or because we just want to be helpful. All we want is support from entrants.

Perhaps many of the previous comments do not seem like "cheap shots" (heh, it's turning into overused quote of the week) to you, as you are not on the receiving end of them - again, that's not an attack on you, it's a natural way of looking at it. But me, when I see a comment like " ALL of our characters may be out of date with new codexes by the time we even get this started", it feels like an attack on us. Now, stepping back and looking at it neutrally it's vaguely amusing due to GW's revision of Codices, but at first glance can be misinterpreted. And other comments here have not even had the possibility of being amusing. I'm not going to name names (so now you're going to say I have no evidence, aren't you? ), but many comments here are distinctly unhelpful to the rolling team.

However, I respect your stance and your reasoned argument. I just have to say it feels different on this side of no man's land Hopefully things will be working swimmingly very shortly. Setra assured me new matchups would be posted today. In any case, thank you very much, and I apologise if my first, self-righteous post seemed directed at you - it wasn't, it's just that your post was the closest when I got home.

@lib samae: Glad you've enjoyed them....have you rolled/written matches before? We're always lookin' for new people.
