Re: Marks big mix of projects (lots of pics)

Working on hobby stuff is proving to be really enjoyable when you get a bit of a group together to work on a project.

My mate is hanging out with me and assembling a bunch of my minis while I paint up his forge world avatar, after forking out so much for it he was too paranoid of stuffing it up.

This is the current stage of a work in progress.

His army is based on crushed quartz that looks like ice chunks. I am kind of thinking it needs melted ice under it down to bare earth with a little pale grass and scorch marks under the feat.

We are thinking that the loin cloth should get added later (probably same color as hair).

Any ideas of how to paint the sword?

Comments on areas that could be improved upon.

    On my other projects:

I pretty much got the bulk of my blood bowl finished:

but after deciding I wanted a couple of extra blockers I found you can't buy them individually at the moment. This discovery ended up with the battle of sculls pass box being raided for a conversion marathon.

    Cheers,

    Mark

Fantatsic project log Mark_Logue. I'm loving the various Epic bits and pieces. Nice paintjob on the Eldar Avatar as well. I like the conversion work on the BB dwarfs, they look very nice.

This is a collection of Epic character conversion I have been doing on commission over the last month or so.

Everything here is great but, for me, your Skaven stuff is the star. I especially liked the slave units.

However I think this recent BfSP BB stuff is brilliant.

This army was originally started by Warrgh on Wargamerau:

    http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?...11076&st=80

Now it has reached apocalyptic proportions after a week off work recently working on it and a couple of weekends preparing for apocalypse games.

The last unit I have done for it is my budget sting wings. I won a box of lizard-men in a raffle at some point so I drilled holes in the shoulders added wires as the top of the wings, then greenstuffed the wings on.

I am reasonably happy with them for the amount of effort involved.

See Warrgh's army diary for more detailed shots. I speed painted everything to roughly match the bits he painted so the bit done by Warrgh is the best looking bit but the rest fits in ok.

I am supposed to be speeding through my Saim Hann force:
    http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...=178930&page=4

but a flood in my games room, daughters birthday and various other things have taken up all my free time for the last few weeks.

I bought a Dragon for my daughter so I have squeezed in painting it for her birthday.

Hopefully I will get time to resume the Saim Hann soon.

Nice colour scheme on the dragon; that's not a GW model is it?

The Dragon is from Ultraforge. They make a great range of high quality resin monsters, daemons, giants, treewoman etc.

First time i've seen this thread and I have to say that I am very envious of your epic forces. They look amazing and you should be really proud of them. I am particularly envious of your guard and that amazing Khorne force, the character of the armies comes out well.

Your escher guard conversions are simply brilliant and fit with the Catchacans really well. Having been sculpting hair my self I've found that a deeper than the eye likes (when sculpting) lines in the hair really can help make the hair style standout. Also, if they are too deep then you can fill them in slightly with greenstuff, or something later.

Lastly, that dwarven bloodbowl team is a real winner. The sculpting and theme to the back up staff is just brilliant. I particularly loved the assistant coach, simple, yet so effective.

40K Armies: Chaos, Imperial Guard, Ultramarines, Chaos Daemons, Tyranids, Tau
Epic Armies: Imperial Guard, Ultramarines, Orks, Adeptus Titanicus.
    BFG Forces: Imperial Navy, Chaos.

Yeah, they have some very nice stuff. Is that a saddle on it's back? If so does it come with a rider?

Re: Marks big mix of projects (lots of pics)

Thanks guys. The Epic and Blood Bowl stuff is definitely my favourite from a gaming and painting prespective.

Some of these projects have had a fair bit of progress that hasn't been posted. I have practically finished the Esher Gang now baring one extra miniature I aquired recently.

Luckilly I have bought my first house recently so I can start organising my miniatures properly and figuring out where I am going with various projects that have ended up all mixed up between dozens of different boxes having moved house 4 times over the last few years.

The waterpipes burst forcing me to unpack heaps of boxes so I have been trying to get all my stuff on shelves.

This is a baddly photoshoped together spin around the games room.

(including my other work in progress the old PC to arcade machine conversion)

The Ultraforge Dragon has a platform on its back alowing you to have any character in the game represented on foot or mounted.

I am going to use a Visions in Fantasy - Limited Edition Female Sorceress - DSM7503 by Dark Sword Miniatures.

    http://www.darkswordminiatures.com/g..._Sorceress.htm

The Dragon is actually for my Daughter in a modified Brentonian Army list to which we have added everything she thinks is cool.

It currently has her reaper princess on it untill the Darksword Miniature is painted

Heh, that's how my son's 40K Ork started; for the longest time it only consisted of 2-3 Nobs in mega armour, a looted something-or-other and Gazghul(sp?).

Re: Marks big mix of projects (lots of pics)

After trying out dozens of different ways of trying to store and organise my miniatures I have finally come up with something I am happy with.

One of the greatest features is that it is heaps more cost and space effective than previous solutions I have tried.

May I present the A4 Intimate Tray (weird name I know) ~$25 from Bunnings.

My 40K space wolves infantry previously were in an expensive extra large carry case with 48 foam cells per tray (4 trays) due to having to cut out larger cells for terminators and bikes etc. It now fits into two draws.

I recomend sanding the bottom of the draws or sticking something to them so miniatures don't slide around.

After that you can pull entire draws out to move fighting forces to the table top battle field and transport them by dropping and old cloth rag (I use cloth nappies) on top so they don't bash about and get wrecked.

I am finding this more gental on minis than the foam boxes as I would always have sharp things catching and weapons snapping in these systems.

That is a genius idea. I'm going to steal it. Thanks!
