Thread: The Vostroyan Thread.

    The Vostroyan Thread.

Since my class's about to start now, I'll say this quick: put any pictures of Vostroyan miniatures here; we all wants to know about them!

    EDIT:
I'm currently sculpting a Vostroyan trooper. Pictures later on when I've got the camera if you're interested.

    Re: The Vostroyan Thread.

I got some piccies here and few other in my Vostroyan project log (check the signature).

However, I'm sorry to say that my Vostroyan project is currently on the hold. I'm looking forward to grab a pile of forgeworld goodness and continue the project before the summer, though. At the moment i'm having problems to find the motivation to paint anything, which is a bit shame as i've promised to paint some empire models for a friend of mine.

    Keen!

I picked up a heavy mortar for my vostroyan army too. I've got a regular mortar crew that I'm planning to use for two of the crew members, but I kind of stumped for the third. What are you doing for crew.

    Re: The Vostroyan Thread.

My mortars will be completely different from what you see now. I will have two normal vostroyans (a mix of normal troopers and the spotters). The third person will be either a sage or servitor. I have three heavy mortars so there's enough to go around. The servitors would be hauling mortar rounds while the sages are calculating fire trajectories. The daemonhunter and witchunter ranges are perfect for these models. I'm trying to put the "Imperial" back into the Imperial Guard...you know, all the wierd, gothic creepy stuff. Oh, two of the mortars will have cherubs flying around, loading shells into the tops.

Good job starting this thread Voronwe. Hopefully we'll attract more (and new) Vostroyan players. I look forward to seeing more of your sketches.

Anybody who plays Vostroyans, feel free to add the phrase in my sig to yours. A couple of us have it already so a few more wouldn't hurt.

    Re: The Vostroyan Thread.

I realy like the lascannon crew with the binoculars. Think he would work good as a third for the heavy mortar team, good representation of the increased range.

Need a digicamera...I actualy have a few vostroyans painted...*grumble grumble*...Someone else beat me to it though, as I'm painting mine purple also, but ohwell.

Very nice MrChaos. I like your banner bearer. I've painted that sucker twice and failed. Things are looking up on the third attempt (knocks on wood).

So, we've seen some pictures...What about:
    -army themes
    -army lists
-Vostroyan (russian) names and army names
    -background
    -conversions
    etc...

The Vostroyan XXIII are remnants from Medusa V that Lieutenant Colonel Wolke Strife of the 317th Helsreach Grenadiers convinced to live and fight another day with his regiment. The remnants are just a few platoons of guardsmen and a few pieces of armour.

The Vostroyan XXIII senior officer (all the other died rather untimely on Medusa V) is Polkovnic (Cossack...I'd have to check my notes from Wiki...for 'commander' or 'leader') Bohun (a mere name).

Because your having trouble with a name for your commander LotE, I suggest you wiki-up the Cossacks (I think that's where I got my name idea from) to find some inspiration. They have all kinds of words for different ranks and so on.

I have a griffon mortar carrier I am planning on converting...but have yet to start. I think I need to acquire some of the CoD building pieces so I have some more 'bling bling' to work with. Any unique ideas people can suggest would be helpful. Once progress is made on it pictures will be posted here and on my perpetually-resurrecting project log.

*edit: California's not so sunny right now...when I get some rays I'll get pics of my other models for everyone. The casualties are delightfully grotesque, earning such praise as "eew" and "ugh, that's nicely painted" from my mother and girlfriend.

    Re: The Vostroyan Thread.

Thanks for the info scrubout. I'll look into wikipedia.

As for you griffon tank, you know those shields that FW makes? Like the Vanaheim and Armageddon patter tanks?
You could make a Vostroyan pattern griffon using the cityfight panels and enclosing the mortar compartment with them.

    Glad to help.

That sounds like a great idea! I was already thinking of a semi-closed compartment deal like those patterns but that will solve my bling bling issue perfectly. I'm gonna see if I can't find pictures of the sprues to see which building would suit me best for conversion possibilities. I imagine sanctum imperialis is the best kit however...

I think so too...although the high arched windows of the administratum would allow you to see all the details inside.

I had a look at the buildings again...and I'm afraid the arched windows might create too much of the rolling cathedral look I'm trying to avoid, I just want *bling*sparkle*sparkle*, unless I cut them down to size. The eagles on the sanctum imperialis buttresses look like they could be useful...perhaps two fit together like a gun shield similar to the basilisk...hmmm, I like that...and any other bling I can hack from the building.

I think two eagle buttresses might just do the trick now! Curse college for making me poor! I wonder if I can sneak one into my budget...
