Re: Marines, more precisely Space Sharks

And now something new for my thread!

The Space Sharks (gosh, what a surprise!) will get some reinforcements in the form of the 5th Company!!

Ah! i hear you say (or even worse#+#++)

But please no flamin' at all, i do know what GW says about this, but i don't care at all!
This is my army and i decide what i paint up and put into it!(OK whith the usual restrictions of the Codex:SM and IA books that is)

I have reached a point where the army is now really big (at least in my book), about 150 painted marines, and some armour, now i can add fun!
As the 2nd consists entirely of Rogue Trader marines and vehicles, the 5th will consist solely of female marines!

    Enough words! PICS:

Here come the CHIKKAS of the 5th Company!!!

I personally wouldn't dare to call them that way if i weren't a Space Sharks marine!

    GIRLPOWER!!

Re: Marines, more precisely Space Sharks

Always been interested in seeing how those models would turn out, only saw the green sculpts but they look pretty damn good. Maybe it's me but it seems the old mark weapons etc from FW are better in scale with the bodies than some of the plastic sm kits are (or are those rt plastic kit bits? Not that familiar with the marine kits). Did you try any comparisons etc with normal Sm plastics as I am curious how the difference is, if any at all.

But regardless what people might say fluff wise, it's your army, and I for one applaud you doing it . Maybe it's time for me to get started on a marine army aswell with some fem marines in it, makes for a nice change compared to all other marine armies out there.

Hi Gertjan, well i did try comparisons. I am going to use only the backpacks from FW of the Mark V and Mark VI armour as they are smaller/thinner than the normal GW ones.
Also i will only use old mark weaponry as it gieves the impression to be smaller/thinner and only the Umbra pattern bolters.

I did a pic with that bolter:

    The bolter looks quite fitting.

Go on and add some dispersed in your squads to liven them up!

Did you sculpt the Lady marines yourself? They seem a tad slighter, wondered if it was on purpose. Huzzah for gender equity to be mowed down on the table top by tanks and fliers! Interested to see them all painted up!

Hi constant_ones, i can't sculpt complete figures like those and surely not heads!
Found by chance last year a blog on the internet and followed avidly the sculpting progress!
He sculpted them on pourpose slighter as he wanted to accentuate the difference we have in RL.

As for equity i guess that my opponets will try to kill those first! And if it's only for the jokes that will come with it!
Well i'm not the fastest in painting, i can only start with it next week. But will surely put up some WIP pics.So stay tuned!

I'm quite surprised - female marines that don't look terrible. Got a link to that blog?

    Vimes,

A very nice walk down memory lane. My gaming group still has some of those models making rounds in old armies.

Nice to see a log that has gone on for so many years, keep posting.

    Cheers,

    As time goes by...
...the weekend passed...and i have an update!!
    They're done!!!...errr i mean: they're painted that is.

Really glad how nice they tourned out.

I'm sorry i didn't have the time to take better pics, but those are the last crappy ones, as i have finally decided to get me a nice small photo studio set of 60x60x60 cm! Huzzah!!

And a big thanks to whomever was so kind to give me the 5-rating!

As i have some time at hand i thought that i might as well built up my army and take a pic.
Took me about 1 1/2 hour to search them and place them!

Well here you go after about 2 years a new army pic!

Saw with joy (translate: horror) that i have painted up 168 buggers, i mean marines, in grey. As well as some armour!
Admittedly i have never calculated the points after i reached the first 1500 points, as i constantly add to this army.

I think you might have enough now....

I reckon your points cost would be found on an exponential graph of my own points cost. At the far end, as far away from mine on the left as is possible.

Sharks are always cool, converted sharks are even cooler. I reckon their motto should be "We've actually been around for millions of years"...

    Oh wow, so amazing! =D

Also love how you desided to take a group shot of the sharks on a dessert background, it makes them a little but of a "fish out of water" feel. =P

Seriously though, amazing collection you've got, and I can't wait to see the heights your army will reach, keep up the good work, consider me subscribed!

Never have enough Grey marines! I've got to the last squad of a Battle Company, but have been distracted on the way with Sternguard, Scouts, Termies, Heavy Armour, Dreads, every available Forgeworld goody etc etc. Ha, never can say an army is truly finished!
Great work with the Chikkas too. Lovely Army shot, always nice to see the whole lot on parade.

SC, i surely don't have enough!!
I still have some hundred marines in their boxes which have to be painted grey!...and possibly yellow or black for a heresy army!

That is an impressive army shot...and all painted which is even more impressive.

Re: Marines, more precisely Space Sharks (incl. Rogue Trader Company and Chikkas!)

Thanks very much indeed Captain Brown!

Now something quite unusual: an actual update!

When i tried to use the Tartaros pattern terminators i noticed immediately that they were petite and that they were designed with my 5th Company in mind!!
I had just overseen the subtle (OK, not so subtle) hint by Forgeworld!! When i had a closer look at the upper body i finally got it! It's all in the name!! Tart-aros! Even if any of the Chikkas had a DD bosom she would fit in!

If anyone of you is looking for a female Terminator armour don't look further!! This is the best you might get and it's from Forgeworld...thus no puny blackshirt in the Galaxy can stop you from using it in the store!
...now...if someone could convince them to produce some Tart aros power armour...

The Space Sharks just call it "Tart" as any girl that goes into battle with it wants to lay some really bad guys by the heels!

That's what trendy girls wear this fall/winter!

Size comparison with standard Terminator and a standard Space Marine.

    c&c welcomed
